Good to get out of a losing streak. Great lines by Monty. Keep this going forward for a bit.

Happy to see a physical response by all players. Physical on the boards. Players actually checking the other team. Great physical response with the fight and not letting any crap go. See boys? Thats not hard to do, eh? Keep it up. Good win.

Shout out to @Bruinswillwin77 for posting the Dracarys in the GDT. Can't not have that!
;)

You already know the drill!

In tonight’s episode of Heiney’s Heroes: Col. Heinen learns how to shoot, Private Swayman smuggles every puck out of his net, Corporal Louis Jake DeBrusk deceives the dastardly Blackwood, Major Freddy punches the enemy in the face, Lt Zacha finds the precious long-lost PP plans, Sgt Marchand still “knows nothing” about how he ended up in the box but Zetterlund didn’t, and Gen. McAvoy learns it’s harder to ‘jump the shark’ than he thought!

It was good to see the Bruins flex their muscle a little. Heinen's and Forbort's responses were nice to see, as well as Freddy doing what he should. Not the best fighter but he did alright.

The duel is on, Sway with the shutout, now Linus needs one tomorrow. It was nice to stop the bleeding.

There was a boarding last night by Hathaway and he got a 5 minute major and game misconduct. The NHL's officiating is getting worse. How that wasn't a 5 minute major last night is baffling.

A solid performance. Hard to really evaluate too much against the miserable Sharks, but after a slow start the Bruins at least seemed to have things more together in taking care of details, looking to be quicker and direct in setting up and shooting scoring chances, and getting their defensive shape back in order. They were good on the kill when they needed to be, stood up for each other, and all 3 goals came from guys finding some space in the slot. A truer test will come against the Leafs, who aren’t playing great hockey themselves at the moment but they’re still a good team and it’s a rivalry game, so I expect a stiff contest.

Heinen’s a pretty intelligent player who gets himself in good positions often. If only he could shoot more often like he did here he’d be a more valuable player. But even as it is, when he has nights like this one he’s a very useful piece.

Poitras just loves to dish the puck. He’s got a great eye for opportunities and space and free lanes. Had one quality assist, was very close with 3 or 4 more. He’s had the ups and downs of a rookie, but overall he continues to learn and improve.

I feel like Carlo’s really hitting his straps this year. His play has been very consistent and he remains the team’s premier shutdown defender. Feels like he’s making reads more quickly and accurately than previously, and the mistakes that he was prone to particularly post his concussions have greatly reduced. Every defender gets caught out occasionally, but for the most part he’s very dependable. The other thing that’s stood out to me is his leadership. I know this was already part of his role in the team, and he’s worn the ‘A’ before, but both on the ice and in some Behind The B snippets it seems as though he’s really owning his place now as a senior player, and has been good at communicating with and mentoring some of the younger guys. Nice to see.

The DeBrusk-Zacha-Pasta line looked good as expected. 8 shots to 2, 4 high danger chances to 1, topped off with a goal. They should give Toronto some trouble too. Poitras’ line was also decent. Of course they scored but even beyond that they so-nearly setup a few more great chances, just couldn’t quite connect. It’s still an odd combination that has no natural shooter and with their lack of size you probably wouldn’t want to send them out against a big, heavy opponent, but I’d be curious to see them again and the Leafs at least are very unlikely to push them around. On to Toronto we go.

Only got to catch the last half of the game, but good to see the guys standing up for themselves a bit more, albeit against Sharks.

Heinen looked great in that 2nd half of the game, his one end to end rush was particularly impressive.

Huge game Saturday, I hope we mop the floor with the Leafs.

This was not the same type of shark sighting New Englanders from Boothbay to the Bourne Bridge must worry about from the Fourth of July to Labor Day.
No, when the West Coast Sharks come East, officials can put away the warning signs (think: “Beach Closed by order of Amity, P.D.”) and replace them with welcome mats.
The Bruins (15-4-3) snapped their three-game losing streak by shutting out their toothless visitors from San Jose, 3-0, Thursday night at TD Garden.
The Sharks (5-16-2) have yet to win on the road this season.
After an opening 20 minutes where they barely kept their heads above water, the Bruins came out flying and feisty in the second, looking more like the team that has been atop the NHL standings most of this season and less like the club that looked sleepy and sloppy in losses to the Red Wings, Rangers, and Blue Jackets.

“You give up 17 goals in three games and we didn’t look anything like ourselves,” said coach Jim Montgomery. “It was good to see us look like ourselves without the puck in all three zones.”

They checked, they scored, and they fought.

Sometimes it’s a fiery speech from a coach that can shake a team out its doldrums. That was not the case in this one.

“I’d like to believe I said something that invigorated them and made them better,” said Montgomery. “But we weren’t happy with our first. We didn’t like our compete level in the first and the players took it upon themselves to raise their level.”

Danton Heinen, freshly installed on the right wing with center Matt Poitras and Brad Marchand, got the offense going. Poitras did a spin-o-rama move to keep a defender at bay and slid the puck to a surging Heinen, who one-touched a dart past Mackenzie Blackwood for the 1-0 lead, Boston’s first since Thanksgiving Eve in Florida.

Some quick passing allowed the Bruins to extend their lead to 2-0.

Brandon Carlo picked off a pass and shuffled the puck to David Pastrnak, who tapped it to Pavel Zacha. The center took two strides and delivered a pass to Jake DeBrusk, who sneaked behind the Sharks’ defense and sneaked a nifty backhander under Blackwood’s pads.

Then things got edgy.

Poitras took a high stick from Kyle Burroughs and in the same sequence Marchand was boarded by Givani Smith.

Derek Forbort decked Smith in retaliation and was given a roughing minor. Forbort glared at Smith while both were in the box, but they chose not to reengage when they were freed.

Trent Frederic was not so forgiving.

The big Bruins winger went at with Smith and after absorbing a few blows early, took down the 6-foot-4-inch, 232-pound Shark with a flurry of haymakers.

To Frederic, revenge was a no-brainer.

“You don’t want people hitting Marchy — he’s our captain,” Frederic said. “Everyone loves him here and he’s obviously a great player. You don’t want him getting hit like that.”

The rough stuff didn’t stop there.

Marchand and Fabian Zetterlund traded blows just before the end of the second period, which set up a crowded house in the Bruins’ penalty box to start the third.

Zacha iced the game when he roofed a backhander off a nice give-and-go from Pastrnak with San Jose’s Matt Benning in the box for slashing.

Kind of lost in the excitement and the scoring was the steady play of Jeremy Swayman, who bounced back from his benching in Columbus with 28 saves, good for his 11th career shutout in his 100th career game.

“That’s exactly what I wanted to do is make sure I’m keeping the puck out of the net,” he said. “It feels good, but at the same time plenty to work on still and you want to use this as a momentum piece moving forward.”

Good overall win ,was kind of worried after the first period being so lacklustre, but think they were just trying to clean things up in their own end.Definitely liked the pushback in the second. Now on to Toronto beat the bums!

First period was a bit rough but they got better as the minutes went by. Nice to see a little push back from several guys as well.

A positive sign against a garbage team, but positive no less
