Last time I was really impressed with the Devils and how aggressive and fast their entire game is and it looks as though it is still working for them.

I watched the Devils' last game. They are playing some really good hockey right now. Their bottom 6 is contributing big time and they play as a whole, everyone is buying in.

Second game in a row I'm able to watch, nice.
I can't help but will forever associate the Devils with boring trap hockey, glad those days are over.

I guess Skinner is getting another start, I'd like to see a full 60min long effort from the boys to support him.

I was pretty sad to hear of the passing of Jason David Frank (Green Ranger) not Oil related but brutal sad. Hopefully Oilers can end the Devils insane win streak tonight!!!

I was at the game when we played the Devils here. I actually thought the Oilers kind of big dogged them through 2, they looked like the veteran team and were bullying the younger, inexperienced Devils. But then they decided there was no reason to play the 3rd period and got taught a lesson.

If we play a hard game and physical game we will win.

Skinner better be playing. Guy is a stud. One of the best goalies in the league, AND he's playing behind one of the worst defensives.

Imagine him on Colorado with that group. Vezina quality without a doubt. No goalie should look good here, yet he shines. Top tier goalie by eye test and stats. There isn't some big regression coming either, his mechanics have looked the same for years.

But all good streaks must come to an end and it’s time for the Oilers to bust these streakers.

Your depth doesn't have to score EVERY game. But you can't be a winner if they NEVER score.

Goaltending doesn't have to stand on its head every game, but you won't win as many games when you're icing the 2nd best goalie on the ice for a majority of the games.


Every item on that list is currently a reason why we're a bubble team, and not a contender. If we shored up one or 2 of those, we would have a few more wins.



The problem is, this isn't 1 or 2 players having an off-year. This is like 10 players having an off-year including half our defenseman and nearly half our forwards.

You have to finish every check against the Devils. That is what CGY did. They were throwing them all over the ice and almost won lol

I miss the most influencal choice. Crappy prospect and player developement.
Yes, Oilers draft the wrong players pretty damn often; Yakupov, pääjärvi, puljujärvi at 4(no hate on Jesse, but he aint a 4th overall, even at draftday.), yamamoto. Instead of Dobson etc.

But more crucial is the developement. No wonder Marino wanted out. He saw what would be coming for him here. Good for him.
Oilers having a REAL HARD TIME to make prospects contributing NHL players. They are always halfways. To slow, to soft, to weak, to stupid, to damn bad, to average. And everyone sucks at defence.
In short; this organisation cant educate proper defence. Is it a culture thing , Sure - I bet, but there had to be more that linger.

Almost every coach here has expressed a concern about bad habits. Eakins may gone to fqr, but I think he pointed his finger at the right spot.
Something is wrong culturewise. To many players exchanged to fast? Almost oilers whole lineup had changed every 3 years. Hard to get something consistent then.

But foremost. Almost every player sucks at NHL defence.
