At least he stops at his moustache........

We won the game, clearly Hoffman was used properly. He didn't dominate, he got good opportunities and made good on them. Almost 14 minutes for a guy with 14 career points is no great crime, and you should be THRILLED that MacLean is playing his all-rookie 3rd/4th line at all in overtime. A lot of coaches wouldn't even consider allowing that.

Help me unload the car.

Now that were using bobby to spark offense in the other lines

Who do we use to spark ryan's offense?

Ryan is doing everything right except scoring goals

I'm not worried or disappointed in him

I'd love for him to have a few more goals but he's been very noticeably involved on the defensive side of things which is a great thing to see

He's been making weird decisions with the puck. When he plays with Mac and Turris he can simplify his game and just worry about scoring.

Yup, he's not a natural playmaker but with Mika and Milan, he tends to overcompensate for their lack of effort(or however else you want to describe their play).

I'd really prefer for the top-2 lines to go back as they were.

Hoffman is being used perfectly

He is getting matchups that are clearly working

He is still banged up. They showed him at the bench nursing his hand with a bandage on it from the slash he took vs. the Wild. We have to remember a lot of these guys are banged up. I think Chiasson is back from a swollen foot I can only imagine what it would be like to skate on it when it is still tender.

Hoffman did dominate. 2 goals for the small amount of time he played, on top of getting a few more quality scoring chances, is excellent. And it;s not about his career numbers but his play this season, which has arguably been the best of our forwards outside Turris and MacA. I'm sure plenty of coaches would play him a few more minutes per game.

He played well and capitalized, he didn't dominate  '
you cant say that him playing more might not have led to another goal against rather than another goal for. Every coaching decision is a gamble, and guess what, we won!!

We won, barely.

Logic says that if you give more toi to a guy that is scoring a lot, he'll probably score more.

IMO, the answer to someone who criticizes the coach unfairly in your opinion should be to defend the coach, not to criticize the poster.

In theory I agree, but every time, regardless of how we are playing, or the score, or almost any other game factor, it's the SAME THREE OR FOUR POSTERS posting the same crap.

At a certain point, having an honest debate about it becomes impossible. I've tried, and the only thing I've got to show for it is the same 3 or 4 posters making dumbass, snyde, jerky comments about my previous attempts to have the discussion in earnest. So forgive me if I've chalked up "trying to debate the issue instead of the poster" as an exercise in futility in a few cases.

teams like Boston and LA would keep playing after a 3-0 lead, there is definitely a problem in the atmosphere of this team.

lol no. It's the experience and payroll if you want, but not the "atmosphere"

If this goes in overtime or shootout we lose.

This. :p:

It's hard to believe how many shots in prime scoring areas that teams block against the Sens

Yeah noticed that. Need way less hesitation and more killer instinct

Even if we win this game. There are so many negatives.
How can we not look at ourselves as one of the worst teams in the NHL after something like this.

lol, you're saying this with a straight face? You guys are amusing.

Ya, let's expect the Sens to roll over the NHL.

I guess we know who is going out when Methot comes back in now

Methot-Karlsson
Cowen-Ceci
Phillips-Gryba
Boro/Wiercioch

Sens really miss Methot.

It's easy, Other teams are outworking us. We have the skill, we don't have the heart.

I agree with that, however I'd call it "sense of emergency". Sens play their best when their arses are on fire.

Ugh, being a Sens fan sucks right now.. nothing to get excited about. Playoff hopes, draft picks, potential big trades or big free agent signings.. nothing but mediocrity for this budget team. It's a bummer..

lol, every post is an adventure.

how in the world did Boro get a 1 way contract

Oh common, that's basically his first really bad play this season. He's been steady/solid for a 6th

We don't have many game breakers..... Rnh is eating us tonight. You don't win without really good centre

Only way to get those top-3 picks are sucking for real. Or trade for them (Ryan 2nd OA, Turris 3rd OA) or having a steal in the draft (Karlsson, Ceci?)

their **** goalie hasn't even had to stop a real shot since the third goal

Look at the highlights. He made several tough saves in the 2nd and a few in the 3rd.

True. We're not going far in the playoffs. Were middle of the pack. Our goalies refuse to allow us to be able to pick high. It's just a long cycle of mediocrity for us. For a while. Unless there are huge steps in development for a lot of our players. Which rarely happens

Ceci? Stone? Hoffman? Chiasson? Cowen? Maybe some others too?

Playoffs?

We ain't making the playoffs.

I wouldn't bet on the Sens making the playoffs but so far they are 10th in pts %, 5th in East

Phillips on the ice 3 vs 4?

REALLY MAC?

Seriously? Phillips is still a very good PKer. And yeah, was also +3 this game

lol the arena's 3 stars are
1) Nuge
2) Eberle
3) Andy

yeah let's ignore the dude who scored 2 including the game winner in OT

 that's "typical Montreal" territory

I don't get it. Wiercioch wins us the game vs. Detroit and his reward is healthy scratch and we go on a losing tear. Phillips with his usual up the middle passes, Borowiecki is alright but his skating is definitely average at best. Cowen Ceci Karlsson are all decent, and I guess that leaves Gryba who was average at best tonight.

lol. Expectations around here might be a little "out of hand"

I wasn't upset with MacLean at all tonight. I just don't like when he puts Legwand's line out in the defensive zone. Seems like they get hemmed in quite a bit. Also I'm not sure it may have been an icing and not Mac's fault, but Legwand lost the draw to Gordon in our zone and after a whistle another draw in our zone sure enough it's Legwand vs. Gordon and he loses again. Same strategy/players, same results.

Here's some love for Gryba for feeding Aulie his lunch. Then coming up clutch at the end of game and early OT penalty kill.

I'm loving what Gryba brings to this team. A nice amount of nasty and a PK specialist.

It wasn't icing. It was on the penalty kill with a minute left to go.

Wiercioch really needs to beat out Boro..left handed shot.

I didn't catch tonight's game but the numbers say you are wrong

Legwand's line gets the defensive starts and is generally pretty good at getting it out of our zone

Someone posted the numbers in a previous thread

Ye gryba has been very consistent

Our defense has been decent but as a team we need to be more consistent to reduce the shots against

Michalek is a better defensive player, and gets more minutes by virtue of PK time and matchups against better offensive players.

How am I branded as some kind of "Maclean Apologist" when I try to have a rational analysis & discussion of player usage?

Some of y'all are insane: bashing he coach is totally fine and not at all "hostile", but try to bring any context into the discussion, and all of a sudden it's "hostility". It's ****ing bizzaro world on GDTs sometimes.

I laughed at sometimes lol

Ugh, Ottawa fans.

WE WON IN OT. BE HAPPY.

You basically quoted the most positive post in the thread after the win

I love that unlike most skilled players, Hoffman has never had it easy. He's never had anything handed to him. He's had to work his ass off to get everywhere he's been. Thats the kind of guy you want on your team.

We actually played a pretty good game. Edmonton came on strong and they really took it us. Ottawa was bending, but didn't break.

One thing I've noticed is that the Sens manage to turn simple plays into circus events.

A lot of the time there will be an easy couple of passes out of the zone, but they try and reverse it around to the other D, the puck bounces over someone's stick and all of the sudden we're running around in our zone.

A couple defensive miss ques, that unfortunately all ended up being goals. The second goal was just bad luck IMO.

Also: Smith fell down like 5 times lol & Legwand still sucks.

Just came back from the game. Great 1st period... 3rd period was a disaster. Overall, well deserved win, and I'm VERY happy that we were able to overcome adversity. I had a really nice view from 3rd row from the glass. :D

On a side-note, Oilers have really obnoxious drunk fans. Kudos to the Sens fan who kept starting the "Go Sens" chant, but this ******* kept making obscene gestures (+ taunting) towards him the whole game.

Kudos to the Sens fan who kept starting the "Go Sens"
i didn't catch this, but i was pleasantly surprised at how loud the cheers were on TSN whenever we scored

a game against the Oilers is tricky because they and the coach are already fighting for their lives so they have huge reason to keep pushing in a game

the last penalty kill was key to push the game into OT, and we have 3 out 4 points so far
