Totally shades of Burke-Keenan. It’s surreal to watch this unfold - it basically feels like waiting for the axe to fall at this point.

Patterson’s comment about Martin starting is curious. Do we think Martin gets the start tomorrow? That would certainly be a balls on the table move by a desperate coach on a national stage.
Well he could...play Burroughs... That would be a non desperate move that actually increases the team's chance of winning.

Also playing Martin is only a desperation move when Demko is actually playing like himself. Right now he's bad so best for all involved if Martin starts until he loses and/or 2-4 games pass so Demko can work on his shit for awhile. Whichever comes first.

Wish they'd just do Rathbone - Burroughs as the 3rd pair for like 3 games to see if something clicks.

At this point you have to live with the growing pains with Rathbone. It's not like Stillman is any better.

Or call up Wolanin, but it seems there's no interest in that given Brisebois was called up first.

Over 6.5
Toronto over 32.5 shots
Austin Matthews over .5 goals
Canucks +1.5

Canucks lose 5-4 in OT after Tyler Myers and JT Miller skate into each other.

Agreed. On the right side Burroughs, Bear, and Schenn have all been better than Myers. Myers should get a "maintenance" day.

Hughes - Schenn
OEL - Bear
Rathbone - Burroughs

Profit.

I don't see why Martin starting tonight (if he does) is even a story. They have a back-to-back, so each guy is going to play anyway. Martin played the first half of the last back-to-back so for timing/rest purposes, it makes sense to play him today. Then add in he's from Ontario while Demko played in Boston.

Just media making a story out of nothing, acting like playing on HNIC is some insanely important thing.

TO laid an egg vs Pittsburgh, embarrassed in the Hall Of Fame game.

They play in a more fan intensive market than Vancouver.

In Van there are now questions about the coach and management, maybe just because things are new, the team plays the same because it is the same team but fans are wondering.

In TO, they are a winning team and those same questions float around.

Both teams are experiencing some of the same issues, goaltending being less than hoped for.

Both teams are spending the same money or close, capped out, one team makes the playoffs annually now the other gets close every 5 years or so.

Fans in Van wanted to burn TO to the ground for cheating, telling their fans they were going to tank and tanking. In Van many fans called them cheaters because that was not the way to rebuild. Man some fans sure can be led around like lemmings, marketing puts it out that tanking is cheating and some of the fans embrace that concept. Now the demand is to do the same. FYI there are quite a few long term fans that have suggesting/wanting the team to do the same as TO saying all that is happening is wasting time not doing it.

It's a TO back to back, a little advantage for the Canucks now.

TO wins, too much pressure on the Canucks to win, must win. For them it could mean bigger consequences individually.

Has to be a run and gun game for Van to have any hope, next up is Boston, a very good Boston, this is their best hope to win out of the next 3 games

Exactly. The simple explanation is that Boston is the better team and they want their best goalie against them. Toronto Media “HOW DARE YOU NOT PRIORITIZE THE MAPLE LEAFS!”

In fairness to Brisebois, he looked solid in his callup. I’d like to see Wolanin and his puck moving ability at some point, though.

The big mystery for me is the same as others, and that’s why isn’t Burroughs playing.

5-2 Leafs.

Leafs goals by Mats Sundin x2, Jason Allison, Wellwood.

Ruutu gets both Canucks goals.

Really feel the Leafs will become a perennial powerhouse soon. I hope that team goes 18 years without making it out of the 1st round. Wouldnt that be something eh?

Demko, our franchise goalie.... currently isnt our #1 goalie..If he was , he would be playing tonight.

Thats a legit story.

Personally, I think people are making a bigger fuss over who's going to play on the LHD of the 3rd pairing D...This team has way bigger fish to fry than than that.

On the plus side Boeser wasn't so hung over partying with the boy band last night that he made the "optional" morning skate

They play the top Bruins squad tomorrow? I agree he's not the best guy currently but he's still our #1and will eventually get it sorted. And Martin is playing in his hometown essentially so it's not that big a story

Your best goalie plays the best team. Which is Boston tomorrow.
