The feeling I got talking to some Finnish coaches/scouts a couple years ago is that they were a touch surprised that no one took a late-round chance on this goalie. This was in light of Markus Ruusu being picked (a Dallas 6th rounder, IIRC...and the only (?) Finnish goalie selected in 2015 or 2016...maybe...). The sense I got is that VV was much more highly regarded than Ruusu at the time...seems to be tracking that way now as well...
