Smith opens up space for Alfredsson and Michalek, while all three are very reliable defensively.

Neil creates space for Zibanejad + Stone/Condra in the same sense.

It looks like Stone was taken off the Zibanejad line, late in the game. I wouldn't mind seeing Mika with Silfverberg at some point.

Silf needs to get to some dirty places, too. He likes space, but sometimes you need to shovel it in. He's got good balance and fast hands, he can score a lot of goals if he's willing to take the other team's lumber for the next decade. If not, he'll be one of those guys who always score 10 to 15 fewer than you'd expect.

Good call, dude. ;)

Yes, he definitely does. Also takes a bit of pressure off Alfie, too. Let Smith do a bit more of the dirty work and allows Alfie to save his body a bit and stick to the creative side of things.

Yep...he doesn't have Spezza's hands or vision, but he's a great skater and can carry the puck well. He's more physical, better defensively and fights very hard for the puck.

Would like to see...

Greening - Spezza - Silfverberg
Michalek - Smith - Alfredsson
Regin - Turris - Condra/Stone
Stone/Condra - Zibanejad - Neil

...when Spezza gets back.

I agree but by the time Spezza's back we will of found way different lineups that the Stache figures out.

Silfv got the last laugh.

No doubt that Smith is staying with Alfie and Michalek that line was dangerous all night and although Turris didn't score a goal he created as many if not more scoring chances with some great moves and passes.

Awesome game, great win. Lots of chances both ways, after letting them back in the game Lehner stole it right back; he's going to be a great goaltender in this league.

Zibanejad was a factor all game with his size, speed and forechecking prowess, starting to handle the puck better and looking more confident, excellent to see.

Gryba was amazing. I have not been a fan of his since he's been up but he surprised me tonight. His shot was surprising Lundqvist all night and showed talent on defense in addition to his rock solid defensive game. If he continues to play like he did tonight he'll stick in the NHL.

Huge win, nice to get out of that losing streak.
