There is nothing preventing the Flyes from a handshake agreement with JG, and holdilng off on the actual signing until they carve out cap room, and if they were really cynical, they'd suggest JG negotiate with other teams to create the impression he might not come to Philly, reducing the leverage of teams trying to extract value out of JVR.

If JG really is set on coming here, it's to his benefit to help out Fletcher carve out cap room at the lowest possible cost.
I just wrote something similar on the Lindblom thread. I was wondering about JG possibly not signing until after they are allowed to put Ellis on LTIR? Is that legal?

I’d have to imagine they’re getting paid to take him. They were in on Petry too.

Is there anything left in the tank on Burns?
He didnt have a bad season and seems to fit the mold of what Carolina likes to do. If they're extracting value out of his contract situation I don't see it as a bad move yet.
