SoucyWhen you factor in a 23 man roster, we have 4.75m in cap space with the following roster.
Kane-McDavid-XXXX
RNH-Drai-Hyman
Holloway-XXXX-XXXX
Foegele-Janmark-Ryan
Shore-Malone
Nurse-Ceci
Kulak-Bouch
Broberg-Barrie
Koekkoek
Campbell
Skinner
You could give Pulju away for nothing, and even then it would a miracle to get Yamo, Clouder and a league min done with that 4.75.
Foegele or Barrie have to go. If Barrie goes, you need a smart move to bring in a solid guy for around 2-3m in his spot.
If the idea is to move RNH back to the wing to make room for McLeod as 3C, Hyman will likely play RW.Brother he's a LW.
Nuge at 3C makes the most sense to me too. Inject some guaranteed skill into that 3rd line, give Nuge less competition, reduce his minutes for his heavy lifting on the special teamsIf the idea is to move RNH back to the wing to make room for McLeod as 3C, Hyman will likely play RW.
Personally I leave RNH at 3C and build a top 9.
Janmark rarely plays center anymore, it'd probably be be Holloway as 4C and Foegele/Janmark fighting it out for 3LW, keeps Holloway at his natural position and against easier competition anyway. Move out Barrie, get a comparable cost top 4 LHD like Sanheim (use Jesse as part of the package). Yams+McLeod for ~4 million combined, then get some right handed shot willing to play at <1 mil (idk go get Derek Stepan or something, is Chiasson still in the NHL xD?).When you factor in a 23 man roster, we have 4.75m in cap space with the following roster.

We do not have the depth at wing to kick RNH out of the top 6 nor is it smart to allocate >5 million in cap to a 3C. The best years of his career have been on McDrai's wing as a complementary producer who can cover for McDrai's defensive mishaps. If RNH is on the third line next year then either Holloway/Bourgault became the next Teemu Selanne or it's time to trade Nuge.Nuge at 3C makes the most sense to me too. I doubt we will just hope for that. One more bottom six will be coming. It is inevitable..My guess is Bourgault shockingly makes the team to start.
Something around Barrie for Anderson might make sense.
Kane McDavid Hyman
RNH Drai Anderson
Or
Kane McDavid Drai
Hyman RNH Anderson
No team in the league comes close to matching that level of speed, skill, and physicality in the top 6. Broberg can play the left or right side so we’d just need a 3rd pair defensive D to pair with him. DeHaan, Stralman, Mayfield (trade) could all fill that role.
Anderson is signed for 5 more seasons at 5.5 and is like two years away from being a Lucic level playerSomething around Barrie for Anderson might make sense.

I disagree. He has serious wheels unlike Lucic. That alone should give him a few extra years of production.Anderson is signed for 5 more seasons at 5.5 and is like two years away from being a Lucic level player
If Yamamoto and Pulju both file we will be pretty much forced to move on from Barrie. Only Foegele if we are lucky
Can play out to not more than a panic trade by Holland. Even a 3rd pick maybe ...Both Yam and Pulju filing would really hurt us as arbitration would award them prior to us being able to cap out and maximize LTIR relief. I was hoping Yam wouldn't do it.
Or we can not trade for dollar for dollar one of the worst players in the NHL?Something around Barrie for Anderson might make sense.

There's another important difference between Milan Lucic and Josh Anderson. Prime Lucic was actually good at hockey, which under no circumstances can be said about Anderson. Milan Lucic's disastrous 2nd season with the Oilers would be the 2nd most productive season of Josh Anderson's entire career.I disagree. He has serious wheels unlike Lucic. That alone should give him a few extra years of production.
Foegele was just a good hockey deal for us considering that we were trading a misfit defenseman with a moderately untenable contract trajectory for him.Said/complained when we signed Foegele that it was overpriced. How did that come down again? Wasn’t an arb reward was it? Maybe a pre-negotiated number from Carolina that Holland knew about that would make him happy?
Oh right there’s Holloway coming too. Foegele even more a candidate to be the cap causality due to that. Unfortunate cause his speed and size are still enticing, if only his hands could ever catch up to his body.

But he's big and can fight. The obsession with Josh Anderson from people here is just baffling especially when he's by far overpaid and already having injury problems along with his style of play.
The moment Kane re-signed was the moment Stauffer finally managed to shut up about Anderson. MTL can keep their overpaid band-aid.
