For me I'm staying away from Artemis panarin, just because of the final contract price.

I'm going with LW Ryan Dzingel, RW Joonas Donskoi, Rw Noel Acciari
I'm adding a top 6, top 9 and a 4th line guy.

Bread

One of Donskoi/Ferland/Johansson/Nelson

Basically if we can't sing the Breadman, then go for a guy who is around 0.5ppg who is about 27yo. I don't expect Dzingel to hit free agency, despite how much I would've liked it.

I would like to sign Tanev. Other than that, I’d offer Brassard a 1 year deal, try to play him with Kane a lot and trade him at the deadline for a good prospect.

Offer Panarin 9M AAV, take it or leave it.

Hawks might be well served to add a couple guys on short term deals that can rebound and produce for a playoff team or they can be flipped at deadline for picks. They can afford to pay up for one year deals. Something like Nyqvist and Raffl on a one year deal with higher AAV than market.

I'd pursue Eberle. 50 point winger and I can't imagine he gets paid anything over his current 6M.

Very affordable option for us that could be the RW for the Cat & Strome line.

Panarin, Dzingel and Tanev...outside of those 3, I have very little interest in any of the rest as they will either be getting too old or too overpaid on an open market.

Tanev is a stud on a 3rd line/4th line role- he is exactly what we need here.

Agreed.

No interest in Ferland? He also seems like what this team needs.

I like him as an option. Affordable ~40 point winger. Good size and young too.

Feel like Ferland is gonna get the Matt Beleskey special. Multi years, highish AAV, coming off a career year and teams overvaluing size and physicality. Easy pass imo

I think he is going to fall into the overpaid category. I like him as a player, but let another team hand out a 5x5 contract or whatever it will be to get him. he tops out as a 20-25 goal scorer and just have some general concerns with him as being a guy who "cashes in" then fades away like so many others have.

How do you guys feel about Simmonds?

Like him as a player, but I'd be very skeptical about giving a 29 year old power forward with the miles he has on his body a long-term contract at this stage (see Milan Lucic).

If you can get him short-term, I'd consider it. But long-term, no thanks.

If not Versteeg, then Panik. There's always Schmaltz and Weise.

However, I'd take Panarin above all.

If the Hawks could land a couple of bottom six forwards on the cheap without having to give out no-trade clauses. The top tier of players are all going to want top salaries with at least 6 to 8 years and will want no-trade clauses. Bowman just cannot afford to give them out anymore. I can't see guys like Simmonds on the back end of their career get a long term contract anywhere. There is really no big need to acquire someone for the top two lines for at least another few years. Work on solidying the defense and bottom two lines and see how the Hawks look at fall training and early in the season. Building up the defense and bottom six is really going to help solidify the team to be a playoff contender.

You sign him to play wing and shift him to C when needed.
Definitely not a bad idea.

Duchene-Toews-Kane is a scary line.

That being said, a team who needs a 1C like Nashville will pay far more than us.
