Yes you know one of the very few goalies in the whole NHL with 2..yes 2 stanley cup rings ...2 !! For the record the flames goalies have 0...carey price 0, goalie bob 0, Fredrick Andersen 0, Craig Anderson 0, Pekka rinne 0, Carter hart 0, etc etc .. combined they don't even have half the cup rings ...so yeah when you ask can he be a Starter ?? Yeah think he can

He was a starting goalie. He's now lost that job, as he has been playing for quite a while. Murray is now a backup reclamation project. Not giving up Bennett, the Flames best playoff performer, for that.

He lost his starter job to a bettwr goalie but he is still a starter on most teams including the flames . He would easily be the # 1... pitt wouldn't give murray for Bennett anyways.. low end buttom 6 who didn't get 30 points..flames would have a massive add....go luck in Alberta with that goaltending!.

I'm sure Murray's .899 SV% had nothing to do with him losing his starting position.

And yet despite this , he would still be the best goalie on the flames..what does that tell you ?

You do realize that Treliving doesn’t post on this site, right? This also isn’t a fantasy league where you’re doing a sell job to other GM’s.

Rittich was an allstar this year and Talbot was excellent for us in the playoffs and it’s already been reported that both the Flames and Talbot want to come to terms on an extension.

I wouldn’t be opposed to adding Murray, but let’s pretend he’s not a large risk for any team looking to potentially add him. His been consistently injured for large parts of his career and that is the main reason the Pens are shopping him to get some assets. The Flames have an above average (not great) tandem. There’s no guarantees that Murray is a goalie that our team can build around due to his previous health concerns. Meaning that the Flames, are highly unlikely to send assets they feel are important to their team success for Murray.

You know this, all Pens know this and so do Flames fans as does the rest of the NHL hence why Murray is on the block. Due to the healthy demand of available goaltenders this off-season, Murray just doesn’t hold lots of value. I’d estimate he returns a 2nd in 2020 and a 3rd in 2021.
