All these Flames rumors are strange.

The players they are rumored to add would likely push them into a playoff spot, but they don't look good enough to get them past the 1st round.

And still no guarantee they would make it in, as teams around them add.

I mean is Schenn even an upgrade on Stone? They are different players to be sure, but they are both bottom pairing guys. Schenn is tougher, Stone brings more offense. The only way Schenn makes us better is if his toughness gets Lucic out of the lineup.

He has played 48 games this year with an average ice time of 19:03. A veteran of 134 NHL games over 4 seasons (add one game for his first season). He is 30 years old.

This season his CF% is 54.0 at even strength. He's recorded 12 points, 63 blocks, and 75 hits.

This season Luke Schenn has played 49 games with an ATOI of 17:09. His CF% is 45.6 and he's recorded 16 points, 75 blocks, and 237 hits.

Both giveaway the puck more than takeaways (Megna 13 TK/ 23 GV), (Schenn 7 TK. 25 GV).

Schenn has played 912 NHL games and is 33 years old.

I'm not saying Schenn doesn't have a lot of value, but at his age and where he is playing right now, Vancouver won't be able to command more. Maybe a 3rd, but not much more.
He’ll get at least a 2nd, but it will be a little more (+ decent prospect). He’s a pretty similar level player to Chiarot or Savard. He’s also super cheap at his AAV. That’s maybe the most appealing part. He’s a fit for most teams at that AAV.

Dont think Sutter likes seeing his team get bullied like that last night.

Wouldnt be surprised if Schenn is a Flame by the time Rangers and Flames play their rematch next week

Which team in the playoff hunt isn’t interested in Luke Schenn?

Exactly, every playoff team can afford his cap hit. The interest level on Schenn is going to be very very high which is why i think he there will be a bidding war and he will get a 2nd or 3rd round pick, maybe even a B level prospect with it.

It basically comes down to this for playoff teams:

Do you want Schenn pummeling the other teams best player for 7 games, or do you want Schenn pumelling your star player for 7 games.

You might beat the team that Schenn is playing on in the playoffs, but there is no way you come out of that series healthy. Schenn is an absoloute wrecking ball. He is a heat seeking misssile out there.

Here's my theory: Schenn's wife is 37 weeks pregnant, so Schenn's seggsy time is very limited right now. He is taking out all his built up aggression on opponents. Its like when a boxer isnt allowed to have seggsy time within 3 months of a fight.

Trade for him and unleash him!

We could see a Schenn trade in the next week or so. His wife is apparently pregnant and due in 3 weeks or so, and he’s told management he wants to be traded earlier than that in the event that she goes into labour early.

Stone brings more offence?

Stone- 10 pts
Schenn - 18 pts

Stone since 2018- 32 pts
Schenn in his last 1.5 season- 35 pts

I'm not sure if youve seen Schenn play lately but he has most definitely revamped his game since coming to Vancouver. Not only is he as solid and tough as they come, but he makes really good and simple outlet passes and gets pucks on nets from the blue line ( much like his goal last night in NJ)

If you're picturing Schenn as an ogre that just dumps pucks off the glass then you have the wrong guy.

ANOTHER multi point game from Schenn last night. His value just went from a late 3rd to a mid 3rd
Schenn is playing in such a way to put the canucks in the envious position of being the receivers of a bidding war. His worth has been beyond a 3rd for some time. Right set of circumstances and you will see 2nd+decent prospect or even a late first. Someone might get desperate....

You're aware Stone hasn't played a full season in forever right? You're also aware he plays far less minutes right? Schenn benefits from being on a blueline bereft of talent. If you look at G/60 and P/60 you'll see Stone is a better offensive player.

Nah his value is determined in TDL day when teams get desperate for a physical dman and trade a 2nd for him

Yep, it's all about supply and demand and we know how GMs become desperate in the league when it comes to TDL day and make a bad trade to bolster their team. Canucks should hold onto Schenn until the last minute to get the highest offer

I don't see him bringing back that much. A second sounds about right if Vancouver has many teams on the hook.
