I'm starting to get on board with coaching being (part) of the issue. This team shouldn't be this bad and unable to adapt.

Coaching has been THE issue since November 2015 when Bob Hartley broke up the highly effective first line / first PP of Gaudreau - Bennett - X because Monahan was playing like crap on the second line. Subpar coach to horrible coach to bad coach.

Flames have been below average or mediocre at best since the all star break last year. Something needs to change.

Brad Treliving filled this team up with 3rd and 4th liners while being obsessed with having the best top 6 defence he could find. Problem is that is pre-2005 thinking. You need offensive forwards and tons of fast forwards in 2019. Tkachuk fell into his lap because of the Canucks taking juolevi and he traded for Lindholm. That’s two impact forwards of any type he’s added in 5 years.

This core cannot handle pressure whatsoever, so ****ing mentally weak and fragile.
- After making the playoffs and winning a round in 14-15, they enter 15-16 with expectations and completely **** the bed.
- After making the playoffs in 16-17, they forget how to score goals and **** the bed in 17-18
- After winning the conference in 18-19 they enter the postseason with expectations of going deep but instead MacKinnon completely dismantles this team
- Reasonable expectations to do well in the 19-20 regular season but it seems like these guys just cannot handle any pressure/expectations put on them.

We rebuilt into a middling team, pretty much Minnesota Wild v2.0

I’m actually curious to see what we have in Yelesin, should he be called up.

I don’t think even having a healthy Valimaki would’ve made much of a difference to this point. Our anemic offence means we aren’t even in games most nights.
