Here's every prospect ever under Treliving:
Congrats you've just been drafted by the Calgary Flames!
Fast forward...
You've had a really good few seasons in junior/college/Stockton and a great training camp. Let's keep you toiling in the minors for a few seasons while we deal with the dud vet free agent we signed with a blank check. We'll revisit this discussion next year.
Wow. Great rookie season for the Flames. We love what you've brought to the team. But here's why we need you to sign a two-way contract...
You've really exceeded expectations in your bottom 6 role. But it would be great for the team if you signed for under 2 million. Remember we own you because you're an RFA.
Ok. We finally have space for you to move up after buying out our 7th useless free agency signing. You're gonna have to play out of position but we'll look to address that any day now...
What kind of message does it send to the team when a career Flame who was recently dubbed as "one of the core" is immediately ostracized from the team following a public trade request?
And then what else do you think runs through the team's mind when the GM then goes on record to say that they'll decide when the player gets to leave the team in the crudest way possible, especially after this jackass strong arms every young player he's brought through in contract negotiations only to then cripple this team with vets he signs on a whim.
This team has every reason to detest this management team
Out of curiosity.
Which players had a good junior career, great professional AHL career start, exceed expectations in a bottom 6 role, and then finally got moved up deservedly?
I can literally think of three, Mangiapane, Andersson and Ferland?
Or are you worried about guys like Ty Wotherspoon, Marcus Granlund, Mark Jankowski, Brett Kulak and Olli?
I'm amazed some of you guys actually think other NHL teams aren't exactly the same as Calgary. Guys have to play their way up the lineup; we're a team that has 5 guys internally drafted outside the first round, or not even drafted at all, playing in the top 13 (top 9+top 4) spots of our roster. That's actually really solid by league standards.
The Bennett situation on this boards reminds me of participation trophy generation kids.
