As the 2014-15 season meanders towards the stretch drive, it’s time to remind Toronto Maple Leafs’ supporters that it’s not all bad. Mostly bad, but not all.

And so, out of sheer kindness, we invested countless hours of time, looking for some feel-good stories that Maple Leafs’ fans can cling to while waiting for the draft lottery to begin. After hours of anger-fueled debate, we finally whittled the warm/fuzzy list down to a top-five...

Only one reason is ever needed.

1) I'm a Leaf fan.

5 Reasons I am still a Leaf fan...

My father (who introduced me to Saturday night Leaf games in my childhood...with him)
Dave Keon (who showed me what a hockey player should look like)
Borje Salming (same reason as Keon)
The Toronto Blue Jays (who showed me patience and reward)
Because it isn't easy (maybe it shouldn't be easy)

:)

2. Trade deadline
3. Draft Day
4 and 5 depends on trading Bozak/Kessel/Phaneuf. Not sure if I can continue cheering for this team until these guys are gone. I might just need to wait out the contracts until then. I usually watch the playoffs without the Leafs anyway so not much would change.

Who else am I going to support?

Every time I question myself why I am still a Leafs Fan, I look back on the Gilmour days, Clarke fighting Mcsorly and Sundin / Roberts

Pat Quinn was a Leafs

Loyalty to a fault. But it is what it is

I've witnessed 9-2 losses and semi-final playoff runs. Neither has affected my love for the team, good or bad. As a fan of a team, you love unconditionally. That's what you sign up for.

It's like being a parent. They're either going to succeed or fail and either way you have no control over them and you love them anyway

I think right now is the most exciting time in the past decade so I have to stick with them. Picking 7-8 is good but not great. We need franchise players and rebuild this thing, which they're finally doing it seems. This draft seems similar to 2006 with so much talent at the top and if we gut the core, we likely pick top 3 next year. This is the way to go.

Though picking 8th netted us Nylander. My favorite Leaf prospect in a long time, plus have Rielly.

So I'm loving what they've done lately. It's 2005-2011 that really sucked.

1.) There is no other NHL team in Toronto.
2.) The Raptors are too trendy.
3.) You never have to worry about those messy, boisterous victory parades.
4.) How else to honour Harold Ballard's memory?
5.) Your grandfather actually saw them win a Stanley Cup.

You are aware that you can be a fan of both the Raptors and Maple Leafs, correct? Also, in what way can a franchise that's existed for two decades be "trendy"?

6.) Because your fellow fans have such great senses of humour.

This is the point where I do the polite Canadian thing, and say "oh..my bad, didn't know you were joking " instead of dismissing your attempt at humour as mediocre drivel, right?

I'm still working on it, I'll get it soon.
