This isn’t hard.

His coaching style will fit our roster and his Regular Season Record is 550-290-112. That good record wasn’t just due to a good Capitals roster. He coached some very good seasons in Anaheim and Minny before Minnesotas roster went to shit.

So who would you see as a viable alternative? I’d like to see them grab thoughtful assistant from another team and try something new but I’m not at all sure who would be a good fit with NJ.

tbh none of the available coaches discussed interest me. best case scenario, fitzgerald and stevens go behind the bench and hynes and nas come out. that will give us time to asses the situation and allow shero to find the right fit for this team, as opposed to rooting through the bargain bin to find a replacement in a panic. or, just keep hynes for the rest of the year and fire him over the summer

My guess is if it happens it’s Fitz or one of the scout coaches with the current assistants.

There isn’t a permanent option available yet except for Babcock, and we don’t have a Lemaire hanging around to just step in.

agreed. of all the coaches available i’d take boucher, but i wouldn’t be happy about it. i’d much prefer sacking hynes after the last regular season game or going with fitzgerald

It isn’t going to get better once he is fired. There isn’t a good enough replacement to course correct at this point.

It will be similar results to Hydra. There is no Lemaire to parachute in here.

Hynes might be worse than JMac at this point. In beginning of season, the team was scoring a boatload of goals but had bad goaltending and defense.defense.

Now, 15 games later or whatever, the team has huge troubles generating offense zone pressure. Can't pass, special teams are bottom of league quality, and can't breakout, cant get net front presence, and....so on. The defense still sucks, and goaltending only marginally better.

This is systematic failure and no confience. I'd say worse than JMac now.... Following this putrid game.
