The wheels always seem to fall off in December during the Hynes era, or at least in the years we’ve been really bad.

So maybe it happens again for the third time in 4 years. Or worst case scenario is we see some market correction, we start scoring a boat load and win enough games to stay around NHL .500 and Hynes gets to stay around.

If it doesn't fall off in December, it'll fall off from New Year's on. Check the schedule from about New Year's on till the bye week in late January if you want to gag.

I believe Trotz would have this team near the top of the division at this point.

The schedule hasn't been ridiculous, though it becomes that way in January. If Hynes is still here, I can see the team winning two games, tops

We would be winning division titles like it's the mid 00s again.

doesn’t our goaltending usually go in the toilet in december? that’s typically when the wheels come off. this is not a team that can win with below average goaltending

Only way Hynes gets fired is when you don't attend a game. Fans have that power. You need to start now!! I myself have stopped watching whole games on TV. I get bits and pieces from my son.

I will say usually I am not a fan of the don't give them your time or money .... at the same time the on ice product has to be entertaining.. when Hynes first arrived here.. the team had nobody.. but they were at the very least a somewhat entertaining team that you could root for even thought you kinda knew it wasn't going to end well.. now I feel we are getting the same or worse results with overpayed and overhyped veterans .....its not fun to watch thats the biggest injustice .. its supposed to be entertaining.. i would rather blow the 4 goal leads like we did early in the year than whimper out in 2-1 losses ... give me a break.. its awful

Laviolette seems to be a name that might be on the hot seat right now. Nashville was supposed to be a cup contender and many thought they'd be a lot better than this. Not me, I think they were VERY OVERRATED coming into this year, as far as calls for being a cup contender go. I remember saying after they went out in the playoffs last year (was it to Dallas? I can't even remember who it was?) that I didn't see them as a cup threat anymore. They're around .500 in the standings and just lost a tough one last night Vegas, after they tied the game with literally under a second left in regulation, before losing in OT.

The bottom of the West is so mediocre to awful right now that they won't be out of it for quite some time, but they may pull the trigger like Toronto did and he's been there for over 5 years now. He's the third longest tenured coach in the league.

I would bet BIG MONEY that Shero is gonna go after Boudreau, Babcock (hope it's not him), Cooper or Laviolette this offseason or possibly earlier if any the remaining three are fired before then.

I really believe one of those four will be our head coach next year.

Cooper is probably the least likely that I think we'll land, as I feel like he's already a lock to go to Detroit as soon as Tampa fires him and they're underachieving right now and he's likely gone at the end of the season if they don't make some serious noise in the playoffs, or possibly sooner if the underachieving continues. Yzerman is undoubtedly waiting for something to happen to him before putting TRASHill out of his misery.

I also think we might have to battle with the Rangers for one of the other guys. They're overachieving right now, so I don't think there's any chance that Quinn is fired this season, but he could be fired at the conclusion of the season, if JD Gorton feel like they can find a big name guy to take the next step.

None of this necessarily means Hynes will be here all year in my opinion, just that we're likely to either name an interim or a guy that won't be the long term head coach.

All I will say is that if Hynes is finally given the boot THIS SEASON(if it happens), you better believe we will no longer be seeing bullsh-t like Bratt and Zacha scratched for Plugs like Hayden anymore.

That depends on who the replacement is. Every coach has their favorites and scapegoats. For all we know the next coach might have it out for Hughes or Nico.

Came here to see all the votes of confidence for Hynes after the win. Disappointed. :sarcasm:

Well now that Hynes has his first win of the season without Fitz behind the bench, I’d say the monkey is off Hynes’ back and he can really lead this team to success now.

No on Babcock, too stubborn and more of a product of his teams. I would gladly take any of Boudreau, Cooper, or Laviolette next year as all three seem to get the most out of the teams wherever they are. Would settle for Maurice too if Winnipeg moves on from him.

This team desperately needs a veteran coach with a track record and arguably needed one to start this year. Quenneville would've been a nice grab if Florida didn't snatch him up immediately.

He made it through Thanksgiving with his team having just 7 regulation wins in 24 games. Remarkable.
The other Hiney Head had 8 wins after 24 games. Although only 4 were in regulation and he had even more regulation losses.

You will if Babcock replaces him

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Babcock WON'T be the Devils next head coach.

Yeah...that would suck big-time.

But we can't keep going on with Hynes.

It's been 5 years now.

It's time to move on.

People seriously need to explain to me why the hell Boudreau would be an acceptable choice.

That would be a disaster. I saw enough of him with the Caps for years. I can't do it again.
