This. Starting to recognize why our owners were the only desperate suckers that hired that loser in the first place.

I think the Rag's game on Saturday could be the breaking point.

We know there will be a ton of Rag's fans there, there always are, and we know Devils fans are pretty much fed up.

So if we lose that game with the fans in Blue cheering, and the fans in Red calling for Hynes's head, I'm going to say that is the end of Hynes.

If we lose the Mtl game then I don't see how he would survive a loss on Saturday.

It really is odd how Shero just refuses to fire his coaches. Whats going on now with Hynes in light of what happened in Pittsburgh is just hard to figure.

Some people said the same here before they played them last time, sure they won but nothing is better since.

I honestly haven’t cared for Hynes right from the start. Gave him a pass in 2016 since that team did give an honest effort despite the lacking roster. 2017 was dreadful and the 2018 squad pretty much flatlined in the middle of that season and it nearly cost them a playoff berth. 2019 and this current shit fest don’t even need to be discussed. I could kind of understand some of the defenses that were made for him with goaltending, etc. but we’ve been subjected to this god awful brand of hockey going on 5 years now and something really needs to give. Every excuse imaginable has been made for this loser and it’s nothing short of maddening at this point. This team is flawed, no doubt, but there is no way that they’re this bad. It’s so painfully obvious yet nothing changes.

I believe Trotz would have this team near the top of the division at this point.

The schedule hasn't been ridiculous, though it becomes that way in January. If Hynes is still here, I can see the team winning two games, tops

It is beyond the point of ridiculousness. Hynes needed to be whacked some time ago if there was going to be any chance to salvage the season- a season that had been deemed “pivotal” for the future of this franchise. There have been far too many points left on the table against weak teams. It is particularly disconcerting and frustrating that this is occurring quite often on the second half of back to backs for our opposition where we should theoretically have an advantage. Instead, it is the Devils who look tired and uninspired. From the mere eye test, it is obvious that something is very wrong...broken. A team with the likes of Hall, Hughes, Palmieri, Hischier, Gusev, etc should not struggle to consistently score goals.

The lineup decisions are infuriating. There is what I would deem “selective accountability” by Hynes as he loves to make examples out of Zacha and Bratt. Meanwhile, guys like Miles Wood continually get a free pass.

I have been one of Ray Shero’s biggest, most ardent supporters. With each passing day, that continues to change. It is mind-boggling to me that he is allowing this crapshow to continue...grow a set and do the right thing for this organization.

There’s absolutely no doubt that a legitimate professional coach could get more out of this roster. None. You watch this team play and if you didn’t know the talent that is there, you’d think it was an entire team full of plugs. It’s awful. Hynes is amateur hour. Dude belongs in the AHL with Cory. What other proof is needed that you’re not winning jack shit with this guy? Absolute madness.

How to force the Devs to turn it over a billion times a game and ensure they have 0 transition game: opponent sticks player on blueline boards of whichever side the puck is on and sticks another player staggered slightly behind him towards the middle.

That's literally it. And I've been saying it since game 2.

Spacing is one of the most important concepts in all major sports that people seem to often overlook. Where players are off the puck, ball, etc, is what opens up space and opportunity for your team. These coaches don't understand that concept. At all. They focus on who has puck and who is option A to puck carrier. THAT'S IT.
Adding to my quote above...

If you believe this team is built to be a counter attack team (which based on their undersized, speedy, and poor possession players, they are), you need to employ a system that doesn't give away the points in the dzone. Especially considering this team has horrific board play and can't clear the crease/tie up sticks in front. Yet they give up the point more than any other NHL team.

Fine. Ok. If you want to continue giving up the point like this, then you need 1 player to routinely leave the zone early and charge the opponent blueline. I mean immediately. That's the only way you are going to open up space to transition out of the zone. But they don't do that either.

You freeze frame the breakouts for this team and the positioning is just mindblowing.

I've almost completely given up on an in-season firing at this point (what else does Shero need to see???). So now I've transitioned to worrying that even when we finish bottom-5 in the league, both Shero and Hynes keep their jobs...

If I'm a Rags fan i go to the Rock with signs saying "Please keep Hynes" Just imagine the circle jerk they would have knowing this idiot is flushing Hughes down the drain.

I'm going to call it and say THIS is what's going to happen so everyone should get ready for that. :baghead:

I have zero expectations for Shero to get rid of this clown. ZERO.

I think that’s likely win or lose. I don’t think he’s going anywhere, alas. They are following the playbook from Pittsburgh as to how they build. Problem is they had and have Crosby there. We don’t. Even when winning recent cups there it was Sid, plus Malkin, and a couple of other talents and a bunch of no names. A decent backfill at D but pretty much no big names there either and a home grown coach from Wilkes Barre.
Thats their recipe here too at this point. Shero has never been a guy to bring in “name” coaching from outside the organization.

Hope it works for us some day. Or that they decide to change.

It will not work because that relies on lucking into two generational talents. That’s not a strategy or vision of any kind. It’s a shameful way to manage a team. People are slowly coming around to what I’ve been saying all along... I don’t trust this GM to build a winner. I’m still willing to change my mind if major changes happen this offseason but I’m not holding my breath.

The wheels always seem to fall off in December during the Hynes era, or at least in the years we’ve been really bad.

So maybe it happens again for the third time in 4 years. Or worst case scenario is we see some market correction, we start scoring a boat load and win enough games to stay around NHL .500 and Hynes gets to stay around.
