Reunite mcdrai. It works. I don’t like this pattern of changing things right when we get into the playoffs. We know what works, we know the bottom 6 won’t score either way. Give the Jets something to really fear, we’ll have a superior line out there for 25 mins per game.
No need to unite them. We have our big prized RNH going to UFA. He is going to be signed. He will step it up.

Our best players lost us this game. Drai, McDavid, Nurse and Barrie were bad. Bear looked awful.

Oh well it's just 1 game, we haven't lost at home....oh. just glad to be here.

Yeah. McDrai, who INSISTED on playing the last regular season games had no pace in this one, were playing a regular season energy game until late when they finally turned it on a bit. I mean WTF are you saving it for?

If you don't have jump in a playoff game you lose. Finally late in the 3rd we have McD and Drai playing with jump only due to urgency and being behind.

Nice useless play by RNH getting stripped clean in own zone on the winning goal. One of the few moments in the game he doesn't have Drai babysitting him.

If the Oilers are going to continue to approach this as regular season they will lose. Do they even know what a playoff gear is?

Kassian, Yama, just get off the ice. Useless.

Kassian doesn't even care. Yama can't play playoff hockey period. He's got nothing for this.

Another year of McDavid down the drain

I'm going to be so excited to see Holland lock up Larsson for another 4 years to provide absolutely zero offense from the back. And then not get top 6 wingers because his "hands are tied".

good shit
If McDavid wants to stop wasting years he needs to dominate in the playoffs like every other all time great in history.

The shots from the point tonight by the Oilers D were shooting the team in the foot. Everything got blocked and the work put in to establish possession was completely wasted. Need to find a way to get chances in the middle of the ice at even-strength - or at least pucks on net with rebounds.

Oilers controlled possession and flow of the game for the most part, but not much of it was dangerous.

We were the better team and our best players weren’t even our best players tonight. Great game from Jesse. McDrai and Smith need to be better.

The Jets depth was on display tonight. Minus 2 of their best guys but they put on defensive clinic tonight. The Oilers had a lot of shots but didn't get many Grade A chances.

No, they don’t. Guess this is the season where they learn it. Jets in 6

It's just like the Chicago series. They outshoot them but the opposition goes to the dirty areas to score their goals, a rebound in tight and a tip in front.
If the Oilers aren't scoring off the rush, they aren't generating much. Fancy dan hockey doesn't work in the playoffs, they need to adjust.

Disappointing but I had a feeling that they would struggle in a tight checking game. Too many people assumed it would be easy because of the 7-2 regular season record. This isn't the regular season anymore.
This isn’t really true at all. We had a lot of great cycle chances in the second. Especially the DRY line. The only goal we scored wasn’t a rush play either. McLeod chance in tight, Yamo chance in tight (x2), Draisaitl spin chance; none were off the rush.

We seem to have the worst luck when it comes to deflections though and part of that might have to do with the fact that we collapse so low.

It was a 2-1 game where Smith gave up a stinker and we generally outplayed them. I’m more curious as to why McDavid looked so bad (for his standards) to be honest.

Props to their goalie, was the real difference in this game. Team should be fine considering Connor and Leon didn’t have great games and we still outplayed them for a majority of the game. Scrap this game and be ready for game two, expecting some lineup changes for the next one.
