Joni Pitkanen 3 teams offering 6 years 6mil$ per with NMC/NTC - A decision will be made in about 30 minutes, it is a hard one to make as I like the make up and potential of all 3 teams.

Jan Hejda 2 teams offering 3 years 2.5mil$ per NTC - Also a hard choice, will be made shortly have Pitkanen's decision.

Missed out on two big FA defensemen, might go into next season with Lidstrom, Kronwall, Stuart, Gunnarson, Kindl and Smith, giving the young guys a chance to play bigger roles. Waiting to hear back on a couple FA defense offers still.

Willing to deal for a 2nd line C.

The New York Rangers are VERY excited to announce the signing of veteran forward Andrew Brunette. We feel he will be a top-6 winger for us who can bring leadership and experience to our young team. We feel he can be a factor on our PP and can not believe we were able to get him on a 1-year deal for only 2 million dollars. He is a consistent player who has scored 45+ points every year since 1999.

The New York Rangers have agreed on a contract with UFA Eric Brewer. We feel Brewer will bring veteran leadership and grit to our back-end. We know we slightly overpaid for him but we feel it was worth it considering all of the young, inexpensive talent we have back there who will be looking for someone to help them learn the ropes in Voynov, Sauer, and McDonagh. He has proven himself over the years and we know he will be a great addition to our club.

The Rangers are close to done for the off-season. We missed out on a few UFA's but feel Brewer and Brunette will help our younger players develop. We are still open to trading:

Artem Anisimov
Brandon Dubinsky
Kyle Clifford
Wayne Simmonds

for a top-line player.

Very happy to land defenseman Kevin Bieksa. A Conn Smythe candidate for the Western Conference champs last year, he had a healthy season without any freak accidents that had marred him in past years. Kevin elevated his game to a level that was of top pairing quality, something that we expect him to repeat with the games best defender, Nick Lidstrom.

We also landed veteran d-man Jim Vandermeer, who will play a depth role in the #7 position, and fill in when injuries occur.

Our team is almost set, we may tweak the roster to obtain a 2nd line C, but we do feel confident putting Henrik Zetterberg back into that position as well.

Any teams with a 2nd line C available, contact us !

The New York Rangers continue there busy day with the re-signing of UFA Ruslan Fedotenko who was an absolute warrior last season under Torts. He can play anywhere in the line-up and he can play on either wing as well as kill penalties and put up 25-30 points. We feel this is our second absolute steal of the day along with Brunette.

1 year @ .75 million

The Rangers continue there VERY busy day with the signing of big Mike Rupp to a 2 year deal worth 1.7 million total(.85 million/season). We feel he will be a regular on our 4th line for the next 2 years and love his grit and ability to fight. He will help take some of the pressure off of Prust in that department allowing Brandon to focus more on playing the game and continuing to progress.

New Line-up:

Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Brunette-Stepan-Clutterbuck
Simmonds-Schenn-Prust
Clifford-Boyle-Rupp
Fedotenko, MZA

Staal-Girardi
Brewer-Sauer
McDonagh-Voynov

One of the toughest, if not THE toughest team in the entire league.

My God, there are a lot of really good value signings still available. A lot of people only went for the high profile guys, but Steve Sullivan @ 2.5 million? Great deal. Brunette @ 2?

Detroit Red Wings 2011-12 Opening Roster

We're thrilled with the changes made in Detroit this season, we feel we grabbed some energetic, gritty players, who still possess a scoring touch in Ryan Jones, Eric Belanger, Kevin Bieksa, Clarke MacArthur and Carl Gunnarson. We lost some pieces in Filpulla and Hudler but their development was slower then expected.

While we would of liked to acquire a high profile 2nd line C, the options were limited and we're pleased with Belanger's ability to fit in anywhere in the lineup. This allows Zetterberg or Franzen to slot into the C position on the 2nd line when needed.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
Franzen-Belanger-MacArthur
Cleary-Helm-Bertuzzi
Jones-Abdelkader-Mursak

Lidstrom-Bieksa
Kronwall-Stuart
Gunnarson-Kindl
Vandermeer, Smith

Howard
TBD (UFA signing pending)

Comments welcome!

You really only have 3 players who belong in the top 6 of a good team.

Not kidding, I didn't even pay attention to Brunnette, thought he'd be way out of my league.

Does anyone have any idea if Ian White was resigned?

I have a deal in place but since there is no roster up I have absolutely no idea.

Big upgrade in the Top 6
Kind of an awkward bottom 6, Voracek won't fit in very well IMO. Some good bottom 6 players, Raffi Torres or someone to add some grit would be good. I would of used some of the cap space to work on your defense, lots of good #4-6 guys out there that are a million times better then Woywitka.

But, overall pretty good! You got Richards back so
