And the hammer has fallen!

:rangers

The New York Rangers are VERY happy to announce the signing of top-end d-man Ryan Suter. We keyed in on Suter from the get-go and we feel he is one of the best all-around d-men in the world. At 27, with his skating and hockey IQ, we think he can play for a LONG TIME.

Contract - 13 years @ 8.7 million/season with a full NMC

We see Ryan as an anchor to our team with Hank and feel that with him, Girardi, McDonagh and MDZ, along with very good youngsters like Rundblad, Erixon and McIlrath, we are set on defense for the next 10 years.

SALARY CAP: $67,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,354,167; BONUSES: $3,025,000
CAP SPACE (20-man roster): $3,645,833

At this point, I am looking for a 3rd/4th line center and a back-up goalie. Just waiting to hear back.

We feel our defense will be, hands-down, the best in the league for a long time. Bringing in Suter will allow for us to properly groom our young puck-movers in Rundblad and Erixon and allow for them to grow and develop well at the NHL level. Marian Gaborik comes off the books in another year so we will have 7.5 million available by the time we need to re-sign the likes of Stepan, McDonagh, Erixon and Rundblad.

Pretty much everyone worth signing has agreed for the West UFA D-men. I've been without computer since Sunday and I'll have it back tonight. I'll update my list then.

Call it quits. The games ARE active, FA just needs to be expedited and with agents who are actually available (Harder said then done).

From my experience as an agent asking people to be agents and do Free Agency in 48 hrs is a tall order. I sent or recvd nearly 100 pms. If that's condensed to a 48hr period it's a full time job. Food for thought.

Just a thought for your next GM Game..

I always thought a good way of doing FA would be to have a set price for a player, and the team that makes the most sence and is the best fit gets the player, this way guys are getting realistic dollars.

Eg...

Suter 6.5 for 8 years
Parise 6.75 for 8 years
Semin 5.25 for 3 years
Wideman 4.5 for 5 years

Thoughts?

And get into arguments about the price a player should cost, and then having to hear everyone complain about their team not being chosen? I'll pass.

Doesn't have to have a set 48 hour period.. but the big fish should sign faster, otherwise everyone just sits around, loses interest and when they do sign, no one is active anymore.

Perhaps establish cash limits?

If you're signing someone for more than 6M$ / season, have to sign within 48 hours.

More than 3M$, within 72 hours.

More than 1M$, within 96 hours.

That way, FA doesn't drag on... though admittedly it exposes things to inactive agents... perhaps the commisioners get involved and messaged on every offer, so we can jump in and say '48 hours is up, highest offer was this, so they get him.'

Exactly. People already do that not...i can only imagine how worse it will get if we set price points

Didn't like anyone in FA. Here's the final roster:

Fleischmann-Weiss-Versteeg
Huberdeau-Loktionov-Upshall
Kopecky-Goc-Skille
Bergenheim-Smithson-Bradley
Matthias

Campbell-Greene
Jovanovski-Gudbranson
Ellerby-Weaver

Theodore
Markstrom

Not the best team, but will definitely compete for a playoff spot this coming season.

I think this could work.

Which agent is inactive? Soundwave right? I wonder how much that effected the sowing down of the game.
Although 2 in a row speaks for itself

After much inactivity, :avs has decided to make some changes.

Jeff Sacco has been fired. In his place, we bring in a man who will help out our defense immensely in head coach Sean Payton.

Also, Greg Sherman has been relieved of his duties, and will be replaced by Shaquille O'Neal.

Finally, we would like to announce the signing of veteran Jose Canseco to a one year, $500,000 contract. We feel he's got the experience along with the size to help shape our young guys.
