Projected Goaltenders:
Niklas Backstrom (6)
Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers (.7)
''Backstrom is a elite n1 goalie, we feel we can win a cup with him in nets. We like JDD potential as he will be able to work on his game and hopefully gain consistency. Anton Khudobin as a outside chance to beat him for the job.''
Projected Defence:
Nick Schultz (3.5) - Brent Burns (3.55)
Greg Zanon (1.933) - Marek Zidlicky (4)
Niclas Wallin (2) - Matt Niskanen (1.5)
Mark Fraser (.55)
''We won't lie, we would have hope to add a top 4 defenceman to our team, something happen in free agency that we could have complained about but...Still a healthy Brent Burns is the biggest acquisition we could make as we feel he is a impact n1 when healthy, Schultz and Zidlicky are quality top 4 defenceman and Zanon is a stabilizing presence. Wallin is getting up there is age and Niskanen is still a raw player, we feel Niclas will be able to help round out Matt's game and be a good mentor to him and protect his back on the ice. Mark Fraser is a good young player with good qualities, he could gain more playing time with a good camp, he will batle for his job with Clayton Stoner, Justin Faulk as a outiside chance.''
Projected Fowards:
Jeff Tambellini (.85) - Mikko Koivu (3.25) - Martin Havlat (5)
Vaclav Prospal (2) - Mike Ribeiro (5) - Guillaume Latendresse (2.5)
Rene Bourque (3.333) - Pierre-Marc Bouchard (4.08) - Vyacheslav Kozlov (1.75)
Kyle Brodziak (1.15) - Craig Conroy (1) - Cal Clutterbuck (1.4)
Matt Kassian (.55)
''This is where things get interesting. We added alot of depht and in our projected line, we opt to go with 3 scoring line spreading the depht around. Tambellini has always been a goal scorer and his untaped potential is something we want to use. we think he could break out on this line where all he has to worry about is scoring goals. Latendresse had his breakout season, again he is a goal scorer so we give him two players that can find him and feed him the puck anywhere in the offensive zone. On the 3rd line, Bouchard's health will come a long way. He's always been a center and we think he can reach his potential better there than at wing. Bourque is a quality top 6 winger and Kozlov is a great hockey player, we hope some chemistry can be worked out here, expect to see Bourque with Koivu and Havlat from time to time. I don't know if we have the best 4th line in the NHL but it's certainly up there, we like that Brodziak and Clutterbuck can move up the line up when needed and not look at of place, we expect them to be a very good checking line. Matt Kassian will be given a shot with Boogaard and Scott leaving, we'll see what he can do in camp, Colin Stuart is a player we really like as a 4th liner and signing Brock Trotter could prove to be very interesting, he could beat out Jeff Tambellini for the chance to play with Koivu and Havlat, Jeff's days in the NHL would then be counted. Colton Gillies is another winger that could make his way on the line up but we feel he can use another year in the AHL.
All in all, we have many option to form a line up, we'll see in camp who works out with who better and we'll go from there. Our projected fowards could be very different once it's all said and done.''
