Man if you’re still defining him from shit from over 6 year ago then I don’t know what to say. Dude has kept his head down and kept himself out of the headlines. It’s just unfortunate that age coupled with his physicality has slowed his game down significantly.

What about a couple of years ago when he lied about his vaccination status and acquired a fake vaccine card? Or when his Sharks teammates deemed him persona non grata.

Had a great start to the season. He just hasn't really found good chemistry with anyone this season. He has always been a pretty streaky player. Good type of player for the playoffs though.

It's pretty clear from watching him play that McDavid cares more about inflating his stats than winning.
Fixed the bold because name-calling is infantile. But it’s pretty clear from watching him play that McDavid’s “inflating” stats (ya know, goals and assists) are contributing to his team winning.

I think he suffered a bit from the skate cut - tough thing to come back from - but he also plays a style that's tough on the body and he's not a spring chicken anymore.

What concerns me more is when his game goes into the tank, his attitude follows. He's clearly a third liner at this point and that fact pisses him off, but he reacts to it with slipshod play and questionable efforts.

When you post online bragging how rich you are with bricks of money + when a teammate is so disgusted by your selfish behaviour he throws your clothes in a shower, that's a good indicator of clown like behaviour. There's much, much more you can find online explaining what makes Kane a clown.

So Kane has character flaws cause he showed up late to a practice and flexed some money?
Let's face it the majority of people that hate Kane is cause he's black and doesn't act like Iginla or Simmonds. If you don't toe the absolute line as a black player you will be treated like you are scum.

They are players in the league that do hard drugs, sleep with escorts, gamble, and cheat on their wives but showing up late once constitutes as a "character flaw".

Kane literally gambled himself to bankruptcy though? The antivax stuff solidifies that he hasn't grown up either. I'd buy this argument for someone like PK Subban, but Kane has earned his reputation.

I mean the guys spends his time off with a cancer patient and not just in Edmonton, takes her family places they otherwise wouldn't go. So something tells me he has grown up

So he had an addiction and the majority of the hate he was receiving was well before the anti vaxx stuff.

What makes him a "clown"?
Here is a timeline from his Winnipeg days:

October 26, 2011: It didn’t take long for rumours to start that Kane wanted out of Winnipeg. In the first month of the season word started to spread that Kane was asking for a trade away from the Jets. Both the agent and the player unequivocally denied these allegations.

“No, I have not (asked for a trade). I guess people on social media come up with rumours,” Kane said to the Winnipeg Free Press at the time.

“I can’t speak for anybody but myself. The story started on some blog. I haven’t even read it. I don’t know what to think. I haven’t asked for a trade and I’m happy where I am and I expect to be here for a long time,”

October 28, 2011: That same week Kane’s “business manager” Jeffrey Uppal had been approaching restaurants in the Winnipeg area requesting $500 for his client in exchange for positive promotional tweets from Kane’s Twitter account. Small time stuff in a big city, but irksome to the people of Winnipeg who weren’t used to these kinds of “business moves.”

January 10, 2012: Although there were early signs of trouble between Kane and head coach Claude Noel as early as October, it wasn’t until a couple months later that things seemed to bubble over. Noel benched the then third-year forward for much of the first two periods in a game against the Boston Bruins. Kane, arguably the team’s best forward playing on the top line, logged just 4:19 in the first period, and 6:19 in the second. All while sitting during his linemates’ (Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little) regular shift.

“I wasn’t happy with the way he started the game,” said Noel in his post-game press-conference. “Are you going to play or are you not? Figure it out. So I’m not going to wait for the game to start. The game’s started. I saw two or three shifts and I’d seen enough. Like, what do you want to do here?”

January 16, 2012: In a game against the Senators in Ottawa a fan’s sign made the rounds on social media that read “Dear Evander: Please stop walking out on your bills. Sincerely, Winnipeg servers and restauranteurs.”

Kane addressed the sign and the rumours a week later with a tweet on the 22nd, that is no longer on his account, that simply read “Ha, Ha. What a complete lie this is but I really like the colours on the poster.”

The Winnipeg Free Press looked into the allegations and found no basis to the claim, but it continued to sour his relationship with Jets fans.

January 31, 2012: The Jets ask Kane to tone down his use of social media. The Winnipeg Sun said the measure was done as a “strategy to help the 20-year-old combat the social media onslaught that’s enveloped him during his first season in Winnipeg.”

February 7, 2012: Kane returned to the lineup on Feb. 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs after missing nearly three weeks to a concussion. However, fans and media couldn’t recall an incident where he would have been concussed, leading to speculation the concussion was an off-ice injury.

In a scrum before the Leafs game, Kane said he believed the injury initially occurred on Dec. 20 against the Islanders, and he unwittingly played through it before making matters worse on Jan. 19 against Buffalo.

Regardless, Kane was forced to address the rumours on Feb. 7.

“I obviously care about my reputation and I want to have a strong reputation in the community,” Kane said Tuesday before the Jets-Leafs game. “It’s unfortunate that certain people are creating a negative mood.”

Even head coach Noel stood up for his star player.

“Evander is a good person. I like Evander,” said Noel. “It’s tough lessons of life in a small market. I’m sure it’s had an effect on him. I don’t know how. We’re working with him. Good kid, tough lessons. It has affected him.

“The way they have him portrayed is really unfair. That’s the world we live in. Sometimes you get humbled. It’s a tough lesson. He’s dealing with it the best he can. We’re trying to help him. It’s tough. Who wants to be criticized every time you turn around?”

September 16, 2012: Despite an up-and-down first season in Winnipeg, the Jets signed Kane to a six-year deal worth $31.5 million. The deal came on the heels of what turned out to be Kane’s best season in the NHL where he scored 30 goals and notched 57 points in 74 games.

September 28, 2012: With the NHL about to enter its second lockout in less than a decade the Jets’ newly signed forward was the first Canadian-born player to go overseas to play professionally. Kane signed with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL.

November 16, 2012: Evander Kane’s time in the KHL lasted just 12 games as Dinamo Minsk and the forward “mutually” parted ways in November. Kane had scored one goal and no assists in those games, and was a minus-12.

“Unfortunately, Evander Kane could not adapt to hockey in the KHL,” athletic director Igor Matushkin said on the team’s website as Kane’s departure was announced.

December 19, 2012: Without the NHL, and with the KHL no longer an option, Kane posted his infamous money phone picture to Twitter. With the NHL lockout and thousands of people unemployed as a result, many thought this was not the best time to be showboating his wealth.

June 13, 2013: After playing in all of the Jets’ post-lockout games Kane caused a stir when he posted a homophobic tweet. Kane’s tweet, which has since been deleted, read: “Chris Bosh looked like a fairy going to the rim.” This tweet caused a major backlash among his followers and he later released an apology.

November 6, 2013: After nursing a lower-body injury and missing two games Noel benched Kane before a game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Noel said Kane sat because he hadn’t completely recovered from injury, but Kane said otherwise.

“Obviously that feeling wasn’t mutual.”

“I don’t know what that meant,” he said. “The definition of a healthy scratch is a healthy player not playing so that was my interpretation, and it’s pretty obvious that’s what it was.”

December 2013: Kane takes a picture with New York’s finest pretending to be arrested.

April 3, 2014: Kane is accused of assault after an incident in Vancouver and sued for financial damages. According to the Winnipeg Free Press:

A Vancouver-area man named Lev Makievsky is seeking unspecified financial damages from Kane in a statement of claim filed last week in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. None of the allegations has been proven.

Kane has 30 days to file a statement of defence. If he feels the claim is frivolous or malicious, he can countersue Makievsky.

The Free Press has learned Vancouver police previously investigated Makievsky’s version of events and ultimately took no action against Kane, who was born in B.C. and spends much of his off-season there.

“We did investigate allegations of an assault on that day and at that location, but given the circumstances of the incident there were no arrests made and there was insufficient evidence to support or recommend any criminal charges,” Const. Brian Montague told the Free Press on Wednesday. “From our perspective, the matter is considered closed.”

Kane later denied any wrongdoing.

April 5, 2014: Kane is a healthy scratch under new head coach Paul Maurice in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada.

After the game Maurice said it was a coach’s decision and that if Kane wanted back in the lineup all he needed to do was “probably just come to the rink.”

December 1, 2014: Kane posts a picture of him doing pushups with money on his back, bringing back memories of the money phone incident.

December 12, 2014: Noel, now a coach of the Vancouver Giants of the WHL, dished on his strained relationship with Kane during his tenure in Winnipeg.

“Evander was a little bit of a challenge,” said Noel, who the Giants officially announced as their new coach on Nov. 30.

“He’s a young guy when we got him. He was on the Twitter world a little bit so that was a little bit of a challenge. I really didn’t have a lot of problems with Evander. I mean, Evander can be a real good player and Winnipeg’s a fairly small, passionate town, smaller city.
“There, people … well, you’re under a microscope, especially when we first got there. If you went sideways on a few things, it was all over the place so it was pretty overwhelming for a lot of players. Coming from Atlanta, it really opened your eyes.

“But he’s a guy that can be a real impact player. I know they’re critical of some of the things he does. I’m hoping that’s a maturity thing that eventually he gets a little bit better at. But I didn’t really have a real … we had a few issues, there’s no doubt, but nothing really major for me. I think that’s just part of coaching in the national league.

February 3, 2015: Kane was a healthy scratch in his hometown of Vancouver vs. the Canucks. It was later determined that he was scratched because of an incident with his teammates.

Kane wore a track suit when the Jets players gathered that morning for a meeting — a violation of team policy. Following a brief workout and stretch, Byfuglien is believed to have thrown those clothes into the shower to send a message to his teammate, according to sources.

February 5, 2015: Kane was placed on injured reserve when it was revealed he’d been dealing with a shoulder injury for much of the season.

February 6, 2015: Kane opted for surgery on his shoulder, meaning he’ll be out the remainder of the season. Since the forward has been able to play with the injury for as long as he had, some viewed it as the relationship with the Jets straining further, and his decision to go under the knife a reaction to the events from the day before. Kane’s agent, Craig Oster, vehemently denied those assumptions.

February 11, 2015: Evander Kane was traded to the Buffalo Sabres along with Zach Bogosian and Jason Kasdorf for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, prospects Joel Armia and Brendan Lemieux, and a 2015 first-round pick.

He also did an interview a few years after being traded out of Winnipeg and played the race card(with absolutely zero incidents/proof to validate his claim) when asked what went wrong.

Oh boy, you clearly haven't been following along to what that Winnipeg Jets locker-room was like.

You should do some research, as someone who's from MB it's been well documented that the leadership in that locker-room was a major issue.. starting with Wheeler & Buff
If you are indeed from Manitoba then you are completely new to the Jets .
Take a lap bud you have no clue .

So he isn't a robot like every other NHLer when ot comes to interviews, didn't like WPG and wore tracksuit to a game.
Whoop d doo.

Kane brought it against LA last matchup and his presence will be needed in playoffs too. Scoring is bonus at this point especially when he isn't getting any PP time and now top 6 minutes

So, he was late to practice?

Had a great start to the season. He just hasn't really found good chemistry with anyone this season. He has always been a pretty streaky player. Good type of player for the playoffs though.

I already explained this earlier in the thread. Evander Kane can't actually play hockey. He's just that gifted as an athlete that he can pull it off. Expecting him to have "chemistry" with actual hockey players will always leave you disappointed.

Kane's game is reliant on speed, and he's lost a step so he no longer has said speed. Guy's 32, after all. And giving such a long contract to a guy like him at his age was never the smartest of decisions.

But to be honest, he's not even been THAT bad. The team has bigger issues, such as Nurse. A #4 defenseman making 9.25mil until 2030, woof.

Well it doesn't help that we shuffle lines twice every periods.

There too many oilers players that just keep bouncing all over the lineup.

So basically you are calling him a dumb player who is athletic, lol how many times have we heard that about black athletes and saying he isn't an actual hockey player is insane and shows the obvious issue with kane haters.

The race card is absolutely justified he only had one incident where he was wrong and they crucified him for it. Lol but a player like

Valerie nichuskin can f**k h**Kers and cheat on his wife but no one is labeling him a problem player.

Kane beat up a cab driver and was apart of the team that most likely knew about the Kyle beach situation and no one calls him a problem.

Ryan O'rielly was drinking and driving and crashed at a Tim Hortons no one calls him a problem.

Do you want me to keep going on how whites have it easier compared to black people, when it comes to media and fans attempt to destroy their reputation?
LMFAO, based on what exactly?? There was a not a single racial incident cited by media or Kane himself during Kane's time in Winnipeg. Why dont you ask Dustin Byfuglien if he endured any racial hardships during his time in Winnipeg. He was absolutely beloved. Kane's skin could be white as snow or f'ing purple. Wouldnt matter. A douchebag is a douchebag. No one was making shit up about him because he's black. Give me a f**king break.

His coach disagrees. Coach seems to think some games it’s better if he isn’t in the line up at all.

He's been a solid NHLer and a powerforward in a league that has like 10 of them in the whole game , its not that deep.

The people always crying about him and his character acting all high and mighty on the internet are hilarious though

Shall we move on to his Buffalo and San Jose days?

August 21, 2016: Rachel Kuechle, a 21-year-old woman from Buffalo files a civil lawsuit against Kane on July 1, 2016 in Erie County State Supreme Court, alleging Kane sexually assaulted her in the hotel room he was living in on December 26, 2015.

Kuechle states that she met Kane at Encore Restaurant in Buffalo, he invited her to a party under false pretenses, and then assaulted her in his room at the Buffalo Marriott Harborcenter, which caused injuries that led to emotional trauma and required multiple surgeries.

No criminal complaint was ever filed against Kane.

Aaron Besecker of The Buffalo News reported on September 20, 2016 that Kane filed a counterclaim against Kuechle, calling her lawsuit against him a “sham.”

Kane’s counterclaim was dismissed in court in 2018.

October 31, 2016: A judge agrees to dismiss four charges of non-criminal harassment and one charge of criminal trespassing against Kane on the condition that he remains out of future trouble — known as an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal.

The case stems from a June 24, 2016 incident where Kane was alleged to have grabbed three women by their hair and neck in separate incidents at Bottoms Up, a Buffalo nightclub. Kane was arrested in July 2016.

“Evander has steadfastly maintained that he did nothing wrong,” Kane’s lawyer, Paul Cambria, told reporters after the hearing.

November 4, 2019: The Cosmopolitan — a Las Vegas casino — files a lawsuit against Kane over an unpaid gambling debt worth $500,000 USD. In the lawsuit, The Cosmopolitan stated that Kane was given $500,000 worth in gambling markers while he was visiting during the Sharks’ playoff series against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Cosmopolitan demanded restitution along with all legal fees incurred from the lawsuit.

January 11, 2021: Kane files for chapter 7 bankruptcy in California, with $26.8 million in debt, according to The Athletic’s Daniel Kaplan.

July 31, 2021-August 1, 2021: Anna Kane — Evander Kane’s estranged wife — makes a series of posts on her Instagram story alleging Kane bet on his own games. In response, the NHL immediately stated that it would conduct an investigation into the betting allegations.

“You have enough money to party and stay in hotels in Europe, go to dinners every night, but I can’t buy my daughter formula and [you] force me to sell my wedding ring to have any money to survive, as you party every day, every night, never calling your daughter and never asking, not even one time, how I’m doing by myself,” Anna Kane wrote.

Anna also alleged that Kane abandoned her and their daughter to party in Europe, while their house was being seized as part of his gambling debts. She filed for divorce on July 16, 2021.

Evander Kane responded to the allegations with a lengthy Twitter post.

August 24, 2021: A federal bankruptcy judge named Stephen Johnson allows for a go-ahead for discovery in a lawsuit filed against Kane by Hope Parker, who alleges that he pulled out of an agreement to pay her $2 million if she aborted her pregnancy.

Parker is allowed to request electronic correspondence and testimony from Kane as a result of the judgment.

“Plaintiff (Parker) was unwilling to terminate the third pregnancy until Defendant (Kane) offered her two to three million dollars to do so,” Johnson wrote.

September 22, 2021: Anna Kane files a domestic violence restraining order application as part of her divorce case, which includes sexual assault and several domestic battery allegations against Evander Kane.

Evander Kane had previously received a temporary restraining order against Anna in August 2021, alleging that she had hit him in the face several times during an argument.

In a separate statement, the NHL said it found no evidence that Kane had bet on his own games.

October 18, 2021: Kane is suspended 21 games for submitting a fake COVID-19 vaccine card.

In a subsequent release, the NHL stated that the domestic violence allegations levied by Anna Kane against Evander Kane could not be substantiated during their investigation.

October 28, 2021: The Athletic’s Daniel Kaplan files an extensive report with further detail into Kuechle’s five-year-old lawsuit against Kane. After Kane filed for bankruptcy in January 2021, the case was automatically stayed and Kuechle requested a federal bankruptcy case to partially lift the stay.

Kuechle filed a $3-million claim against Kane, as revealed in his bankruptcy disclosure.

Judge Stephen Johnson scheduled the next hearing in Kuechle’s case against Kane for May 19, 2022.

November 23, 2021: Evander Kane claims that Anna Kane lied to him about being pregnant, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

As part of his claim, Evander Kane asked the courts for full custody of their daughter.

November 28, 2021: Kane is waived by the Sharks upon completion of his suspension and is demoted to the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.

November 30, 2021: Kane meets with the media for the first time after serving his suspension where he tersely reveals that he’s fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“I’ve served my time, did my 21 games and now I’m back,” Kane tells reporters.

Kane also addresses the allegations levied by Anna Kane that he had bet on Sharks games. The NHL cleared him of these allegations on September 22, 2021.

"It was definitely not great to be associated with that at the time," Kane said. "But they investigated me heavily ... found what they found, which is nothing."

January 8, 2022: Kane is placed on unconditional waivers with intent to terminate his contract by the Sharks for violation of the AHL’s COVID-19 protocol.

San Jose said it will not comment further on the matter.

How anyone can try to defend this guy is f**king beyond me.

Hopefully Montreal trades for him. I'd love to see what kind of douchebaggery he could get up to in La Belle Province.
