Östersund was basically three minutes away from advancing. Still top the group, and got Zorya left to play at home.

BATE beat Koln, Herta lost to Zarya, BVB couldn’t beat APOEL.

Germans having an off year

No, they are not having an off year. Fact is, the Bundesliga is a league with one really good team, two or three decent teams and the rest is nothing but garbage that plays against relegation. It is a boring league with no depth. And they have never done anything in the EL. Never.

Would agree with the previous post, Bundesliga lacks depth outside the top 3-4 (Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig and on a good year one of Schalke/Leverkusen/Gladbach). Lets not forget Freiburg lost to a random Slovenian team in the qualifiers as well.

Luckily for them, UEFA changed their CL format that they will be guaranteed 4 CL spots for the foreseeable future, as the Italians will surely pass them in the coefficients

The one country that really lacks depth is Portugal. Behind the top 3 it’s absolute trash since the time Boavista was good.

Even if you look at the attendance, the top 3 teams get 40k+ every game and the rest is drawing 5k crowds and less.

By the way, this round Portuguese lost all 4 games so far

Freiburg is likable, but nothing special. They lost their best players.

Exactly. Most teams play the same style

At least Braga did win in Hoffenheim and Hoffenheim had not lost a Bundesliga-Homegame in ages. Bundesliga is a league where everybody tries to play like Klopps Dortmund did. Nobody can play a different style than pressing and fast counter attacks. But if they have the ball against a defensive team, they have no clue and no skill to do anything with it. They need different coaches and different ideas if they want to win anything in the future.

I can get it with each one, but it is unfortunate that all are happening at once...Koln aren't very good without Modeste to bury the rare chances they craft; Hertha suck in possession under Dardai and have their hands full in the league, while BVB are trying to steal the league while Bayern wobbles...throw in Hoffenheim & Leipzig's naivety to european competition and this season could really hammer the BuLi's coefficient.

Heffenheim, Gladbach & Dortmund are the only teams that really shine in possession. Schalke have shown some progress in that realm, but not enough yet while the likes of Hertha, RB & Leverkusen have the personnel to do it but not the coaching.

I just pray that Tuchel comes back because he Nagelsmann need to dominate the league for a while to re-inforce the evolution that Pep began.

So Lyon does start plenty of usual starters, but Depay and Maolida are actually starting. Aouar (who took Depay's LW spot previously) is playing midfielder. And shining. He obtained the penalty Fekir scored. Maolida is 18 years old too. Aouar is 19.

Villarreal losing by two goals at home to Slavia, Spanish sides aren't exactly lighting this competition up this season outside of Sociedad

Everton players trying to injure Fekir in every situation, even when THEY have the ball. Incredible.

Guess that's the only area where they're creative.

This is not going to end well. Mirallas just made an awful tackle from behind to an unsuspecting Tete, hitting both feet and ball, and the ref didn't even call a foul...

Is Maolida the one playing on the right that cut in and had a fairly nice curled left footed shot?

EDIT: Nvm, that was Traore.

And Maolida misses a golden chance. Mariano should take his place, game would be over already.
