Their team selection is designed like the gameplan was to empty the midfield and force defenders back and wide to let guys like Rodri or Silva operate in a bunch of space.....then they just throw their LB in the middle of the park to stand around and do nothing which lets Spurs virtually ignore any threat from the left hand side and just pack in the middle.
