They stopped
True, but they created at least 2 more chances that should have been goals. Do us a favor and steal a point from City tomorrow.

He looked better earlier in the season but his confidence levels are understandably low right now.
If by earlier in the season, you mean when he was allowed to clobber that Wolves player 5 seconds after the ball got there, then yes. Otherwise idk.

Obviously Man Utd would mostly need to have more creativity and ball possession capability in midfield, but if he is fit enough, surely Hojlund can't be as useless as Martial was in the 1st half.
Yea Martial was useless as was Rashford so the only attack came through very rare runs from Garnacho. Newcastle were generally able to take that away though since they could easily afford to overman that side a bit.

It's all fine though we've got domestic violence man on the bench ready to save us.....*sigh*

Feels like United's only chance is that Newcastle either gets so tired from playing 3 straight games with no rotation they can't run, or they're forced to bring on the 15 year olds on their bench for some reason.

Then and there
Yeah, based on the start of the 2nd half, it'll be a miracle if ManU can prevent Newcastle from scoring. They are almost permanently strapped inside their own penalty area.

Then and there
Well, it was coming. For a neutral this might mean that we see better rest of the match, as ManU has to try some attacking at least.

Rashford’s purple patch last year made people forget how average he is.

Maguire probably should have been booked for that but then again, Schar got away with a yellow earlier.

Feels disingenuous given that his purple patch last year was one of many he's had in his career.

Rashford is extremely streaky - way too much so to be considered a top player. But he's had too many "purple patches" to be overall deemed average.

He was good for three years and then dropped off. He doesn't look that much different playing wise than last year. It's just that last year all of his half chances magically went in. He was just as lazy and out of the match.
