I don't think so. First of all, too many games in all competitions to not play him and second, if he finds the form he was in last season during that 6 game goal spree, he'll be there. He needs to work hard to get back to that level.

Of course he'll still play every now and then, start one or two games in in the League Cup or Europa League (at most hopefully) or used as a sub but thank **** Mourinho had the balls to drop him at last unlike LvG and Moyes. He's not good these days and shoe-horning him into the team have ****ed us for too long. Rooney could go on a good run but he will never consistenstly perform the way he previously has. He's past it.

Actually the only aspect of Rooney's game that still works is his work ethic. He's still a work horse and even this season often helping out the defense. Last season I think it was during his scoring run in one game he ran all the way back from offense to the back to slide tackle the ball away from an opponent winger because the LB couldn't keep up with the guy.
