With tonight's Game Winning Goal, Elias now moves past the tie with Pavel Bure, as the record holder for most Game Winning Goals by a Canucks Rookie, with 7.

Rookie Game Winning Goal NHL Record is held by Marek Svatos with 10. (Over two seasons, so actually just 9, tied with Steven Larmer)

Tonight is Elias's first Over time goal also, so he is now tied for the Canucks Team Record at 1 with 7 others.

It really does make you wonder if in his prime he can be as good as the top 5 player on earth, and you know who that is.

I’m still pretty much Floored at what he’s doing at his size as a rookie

I think when all the dust has settled he will be a top 3 player in this league. The Forsberg of this generation.

Doesn't play with the same physicality as Forsberg did hin his prime, but if you mean a Swede who dominated the league then yes, I think so as well ;)

Roger Takahashi is now one of the most important asset the Canucks have, to develop EP40's physical body.

I can't wait till what Roger can do with EP with a full summer.

We are so incredibly fortunate to have him. We have a franchise player on our hands and it's a real treat.

Expect his SH% to come down but could be in the elite company even after regression.

IS EP going to the All Stars? He would have won the hardest shot last year if the "unofficial" Canucks shooting is to be believed. I believe Ovi won it with 98 something and EP had 99 something. I usually don't watch these events but if EP goes I would. I can't believe how good he is. I can't imagine anyone else winning the Calder!

He is going to the ASG, but we won't know what events he will be in for awhile yet.

Best part of this interview is that he admitted on HNIC after hours that he had no ideas why did he put on a Vancouver T-shirt and took a photo with it when he was 5.

But now he says”. Google it”

I'm in tears. A lifer.

The Hockey Gods may have been unkind in the past, but I feel they have glory in store for us in the not so distant future.

So somebody mentioned on TV that with Pettersson getting to 20 goals and also being selected to the All-star Game, he collects 450k in Bonuses. Does anybody know what bonuses are still out there for Pettersson (like winning the Calder, 40 goals, etc). How much in bonuses could he theoretically earn?

2.85 m in bonuses

plus his salary of 925k

for 3.775m in total earnings

This will count against the cap and is something the canucks will need to keep in mind these next few seasons.

He says all the right things..get better and better..he makes the whole team notice that they have to be better..some one please put a C on this kids jersey..
I love Bo...but this kid is the leader of this team..the work effort he has also.
I have never seen a rookie that has made me stand up every time he has the puck..since Bure...franchise player..

Thanx. Do you know what milestones or what awards give him those bonuses? I presume any of the individual awards come with a bonus?

I believe you're right. Green never plays him when there is a empty net. He prefers to put guys like Motte in, when Pettersson is just as good if not better defensively than anyone on the roster. Drives me crazy.

Hes a centre... Motte being out there has nothing to do w. Pettersson.

If you want Pettersson out there taking faceoffs w 1 min left in the Dzone and blocking shots then he needs to become better than Horvat Sutter Beagle in those situations.

Incredible. He's going to own the Canucks record book; it's only a matter of time.

Elias needs 19 more points to pass Bure/Hlinka in rookie scoring. There's a good chance we see it before the trade deadline...

We are so incredibly fortunate to have him. We have a franchise player on our hands and it's a real treat.

Expect his SH% to come down but could be in the elite company even after regression.

Here's the top 10 goals in a draft + 2 season for the past 25 years:

1 Alexander Ovechkin 2005-2006 52
2 Steven Stamkos 2009-2010 51
3 Patrik Laine 2017-2018 44
4 Rick Nash 2003-2004 41
5 Ilya Kovalchuk 2002-2003 38
6 Sidney Crosby 2006-2007 36
7 Auston Matthews 2017-2018 34
8 Sean Monahan 2014-2015 31
9 3-way tie (McDavid/Yashin/Gaborik) 30
10 2-way tie (Tavares/Seguin) 29

7 more (15 goal pace) to crack the top 10.

14 more (30 goal pace) to tie Crosby.

Is this real life?

Let's not get carried away and also offend Horvat. EP is doing awesome but he doesn't need the C. Horvat is the defacto Captain for me. Just let EP play that's all I want for him.

I know most Canucks fans are trained to be skeptical from a young age. But I have to ask. Is Pettersson a generational talent?

Actually, I can add a goal tracker to the next thread now that we can sticky first posts...
