BTW what is it with Hurricanes fans and booing innocents? Flames fans had a standing ovation for Ferland and Hamilton when they came back, and the Hurricanes boo their returning players and coach?

We've had long and tearful tributes to Cam Ward and Jeff Skinner this season. These are players that elevated their games and assumed leadership positions with the team. They bonded with the fans.

I had no problems with Lindholm and certainly wouldn't boo him. He was a frustrating player to cheer for though. So much potential and skill, but he could never seem to put it all together here. I am happy he is finally starting to put up numbers to justify his draft position. Just wish it could have been us. We are starving for top 6 talent. We'd be a little further along in our rebuild if he had panned out as hoped...

They were booing clear trips and high sticks... I mean reffing wasn't the best part of that game but they also weren't the worst imo and certainly not the reason the canes lost

Every fanbase boos refs if the fans think the calling is slanted. It's just the nature of being at a live sporting event.

Was it before the game? I only saw they listed their names on the jumbotron.

During a TV timeout.

I enjoy the mocking and hope it spreads far and wide so that every visiting winner in Raleigh does the same

Bottom line is Lindholm is welcome to mock. It has zero reflection on the Canes or their fans, just on Lindholm. Maybe its why he was moved. He never showed any glimpse of being a 60+ point player, or even 50 for that matter. I guess its just magic that he is now on pace for 90+. Couldn't be Gaudreau and Monahan, naw, they stink.

Apparently I'm one of the few that likes the Carolina celebrations (the jumping at the glass one was best imo). I get Lindholms frustrating if he felt he was being booed and someone tried to throw his jersey on the ice. Dude has never said a bad thing about Carolina in the media that I can remember seeing/hearing, and this is the first time I've ever seen him display that kind of emotion.

His quote when asked about it:

“My name came up twice on the JumboTron and I got booed, so that was a nice way to end it,” Lindholm said, via Sportsnet. “I was surprised. I tried to play hard here for five years and got booed. It is what it is. It was nice to end it that way.”

It is called respect, they can boo him rest of his life, not during the silly tribute. The silly tribute is not for the fans. I am not against booing other teams players, boo on, that is your wepon. But not during tributes from your own team.

Like I said, there's nothing that states a fan has to "respect" a player from another team. These guys get paid millions to play a game and it's the fans that are paying for if so they can boo if they want. Don't like it? too bad.

And good for Lindy showing some personality and mocking the celebration. Nice to see that vs. the same old plain stuff we always see.

I mean this with all due respect, I wish I could be. I want to be.

I dont think anyone wants to be... the fanbases hope that the team might turn around is turning to chains. Being an Oilere fan is like signing a contract from below...

If you're going to boo a former player from your team for no apparent reason, you automatically give up all rights to complain about said player responding.

Next.
If this proves anything it's that players really do hear what is directed at them, and some take it personally.

Nothing wrong with that.

It's the fans that are being classless. Blame your GM, not a fantastic hockey player who didn't even want to leave.

The booing angle has been so heavily overplayed it’s ridiculous. Not going to write a long post, but Lindholm ignored plenty of clapping to focus on the scattered booing that wasn’t even directed at him personally.

It’s too bad he reacted that way. Any other player doing it would be meh, but this is a guy who got NOTHING but support in that arena despite 5 years of disappointing performances. It’s a shame.

I want this stuff every game. Love it. It's just a game, go entertain.

I've always wanted to see a player take the goalies water and drink out of it after a goal, man that would piss off so many people.

We need more character in this league.

I bet even Canes fans on here had a laugh.
