I personally did it as what team I thought would be best for future.

Established players obviously hold value and I take that into account, but to me: top prospects who arent in the NHL >>> NHL 3rd liners with little upside.

I think a reasonable metric would be expected success over the the next 5 years. Values both current play and potential.
