You either hate this tournament or love it.

Will be intresting to see if Russia sends their u20 team again.

Teams should be nominated in just a week.

Why is Sweden even part of this anymore i wonder, we have too many players in NHL and AHL, we dont have same quality of players in Europe as the other top teams have. Switzerland/Germany/Slovakia should have our spot.

Anyways i would like to see a young swedish team, something like this:

Olle Lycksell - Nils Åman - Marcus Sylvegård
Glenn Gustafsson - Pontus Holmberg - Elmer Söderblom
Elias Ekström - Rickard Hugg - Linus Karlsson
Adam Edström - Karl Henrikson - Viktor Lodin
Filip Cederqvist, Oskar Ståhl Lyrenäs

Simon Edvinsson - Filip Johansson
Albert Johansson - Calle Själin
Adam Wildsby - Alexander Lundqvist
Samuel Jonsson - Hardy Åman Aktell

Jesper Wallstedt
Adam Åhman

No more Dennis Rasmussen, Viktor Lööv and Dahlbeck, please.

Older team:

Emil Pettersson - Carl Söderberg - Daniel Zaar
Marcus Sörensen - Robert Rosen - Richard Gynge
Joakim Nygård - Anton Lander - Mathias Brome
Jesper Olofsson - Lucas Wallmark - Carl Klingberg
Malte Strömvall, Jakob Lilja

Joakim Ryan - Christian Folin
Niklas Hansson - Henrik Tömmernäs
Lukas Bengtsson - Tim Heed
Philip Holm - Theodor Lennström

Lars Johansson
Johan Mattsson
Jhonas Enroth

I enjoy these to be honest... I don't take the results seriously but it is a chance for me to see guys that I don't get to see that often.. this year I'm hoping to see D. Kase, Krejci (unlikely I'm guessing) and Chlapik who seems to being have a renaisance. We have some good players in Finland as well right now. Spacek is another one I have all day for.

Maybe Jagr? Only PP for him.

Spacek has been really good in SHL. Such a smart player and impossible to catch, he is slippery as hell.

He is one of my fav non NHL Czechs by a mile. I was really hoping he'd stick in North America. He was great for us at World's and then we inexplicably benched him for the elimination game.

Jagr would be interesting.. I imagine he'd want Plekanec. For an EHT it'd be a hell of a 4th line!

Just remembered that Frolik is back as well. It's an Olympic year so World's will be weaker teams.. we might actually have a pretty good squad of Euro's. Matej Stansky with 5 goals in Swiss league this weekend!

Why is Bratash and Znaroks listed as coaches for team russia on ep? I thought zhamnov is the coach.

Bratash is the U20 head coach, and this is mostly the U20 team... So instead of wasting his time coaching a team out of which zero players will make it to the olympics, Zhamnov will be touring the NHL when the Karjala Cup is underway.

Znaroks is apparently some kind of coaching consultant, IDK, I'm going with what the Finnish media says. Perhaps one of our Russian friends can shed some light on what his exact present role is.

This is obviously not the senior team nor will those players go to the Olympics. Why should Zhamnov be there?

Znarok is officially a consultant. whatever his real role will be.

Actually very surprising that we see guys like Granlund, Kemppainen and Filppula. Hartikainen missing was expectable.

Apart from Hartikainen, the Omsk d-men Pokka and Kaski are absent too. But overall, Finland's team looks practically like the who's who of Finnish hockey in Europe. I'd call it stronger on paper than the last spring's WC squad.

One explanation for such a strong roster could be at least some of these players harboring olympic hopes - though perhaps even a better one could be the tournament that awaits in the spring. A brand new arena in Finland's #1 hockeytown in front of the fanatical home audience - I'd like to think that it's a more enticing prospect to a Finnish hockey player than your usual annual Skoda Cup. So better start making inroads towards that sooner rather than later.

For Team Finland this is by far the most important and the biggest tournament for scouting players regarding upcoming WHC. Other tournaments are usually for players that either need to show more for coaching staff or kinda like "reward" for players that are playing really well.

This is basically the best possible team we could have from Europe, with maybe couple exceptions on defence and goalies. Home WHC coming, and suddenly everyone's interested to put Lion jersey on.

I'd say you are the frontrunners to win the Karlaja
