Probably better than what he showed in Toronto and low risk. Hard to hate it.

Also did Dreger break this? I know prior to this offseason his credibility as an insider was getting... Questionable.

He will redeem himself in Edmonton and be up for a massive raise next year. Great idea for him and the Oil

In all honesty, he's going to put up 60 points and be -13 if Klefbom doesn't come back or the oilers don't make a move.

He plays with McDavid and Drai for a year, they make him look like a million bucks, then he either resigns there or somewhere else for long-term money. Boom.

This is sarcastic, right?

Their own net will get lit up
He’s not playing in Toronto anymore. Tippett has a team defense structure. Everyone supports one another just like they did in Colorado. His offensive impact far outweighs his defensive lapses.

He’s literally one of the worst dman in his own zone that I’ve ever seen. But extremely talented and will def cash in on that PP

I thought McDavid said the oilers wanted to focus being better defensively next year. This signing is the opposite of that.

Great deal, as long as he's sheltered.

Fwiw, he sucked under Babcock, but was quite good under Keefe because Keefe used him to his strengths. Again, don't give him tough usage and he will excel.

I mean I get it for the offensive side of things but who is going to defend.

The Oilers are going to be absolute beasts in the Ozone but are going to be owned in thier own end.

I really don't understand this signing.

Good contract. Congrats. If he finds his game it’s a great signing.

People here need to realize how terrible our defense is at transition. As sad as it is, Barrie becomes the best offensive threat from the blue-line this team has had in years. Will be nice having a defenseman (along with Bear and Jones) who can make good lead passes.

Lmfao that’s what you think. Until a forward chips they puck in his corner and you’re hemmed in you’re own zone for a minute plus after that

Oilers are going to have a wacky year.. when you add Turris, Barrie and Puljujarvi no doubt is the team more talented, but none of these guys care much about playing good D lol

The Oilers have no offensive ability on their blue line. They get jammed in their zone because the D can't make plays to McDavid/Drai

I like the signing for Barrie. Doesn’t seem to move the needle much for Edmonton who already have a great PP. But it’s a low risk move at one year.

Banking on himself killing it with McDavid and getting a bid payday next year.

Buddy is gonna destroy it next year, oilers had the best PP as is amd there didn't even have a RH puck moving specialist which is probably barrie stength

Hope he does well. It was frustrating to watch him last season, mostly due to babs and just the general fit not being what they hoped.

If he's stationed with a good D partner this can turn out well, if not then watch out in the D zone, although that's pretty much status quo in Edmonton.
