I think DeBrusk is the gametime decision. He didn't look right at all last night

In Jaro We Trust. Yes, last night's performance was disappointing all around, and a good deal of it rests on the goalie. But we're at the point where there's literally no better option than an unrested Jaro. You go with the lineup that gives you the best chance to win the next game, because you only play one game at a time. In this case that player's Jaro.

Since goalie is known to be a heavily psychological position, I'd be curious to see how Jaro generally does after he loses his last start OR how he does defending the net in the second game of a B2B after a first game loss over the past 2-3 years (with tired defenders in front of him). If those stats were truly horrendous, I'd concede that you might take a chance on Vladar.

As far as 7 D - yikes. Injury I presume to someone, but I don't see how is there not another forward who can slot in. Having an extra defenseman always reeks of desperation to me - but then again the Lightning did it last night.

Don’t play seven defencemen!! Don’t do it! It’s a f***in disaster!

why?

Tampa did it yesterday and they were even better

Having 7Ds for them meant harder forchecking and pinching was allowed/more aggressive

Our Ds looked dead tired on the flipside

Also these days, there is a certain line or two players that play about 10 mins or less. Sometimes cause of the goals against (like last night)

I think it is a good idea to explore

Don't play Marchand and Bergeron on the PK and let Kuraly, Wagner, Lindholm, Nordstrom play that exclusively. On the PP play Krug a little longer. On the PK , play Chara a little longer

And balance it out by rotating the rest

The other way to think about this is (as Cassidy eluded to)

The Ds have logged on a ton of min in this physical series. And the pressure won't let up

What if one of the Ds goes down due to injury?

Having 5 Ds against a team like Tampa is asking for a death wish. They will forcheck even harder to squeeze the life out of your D core

Bruins were completely outplayed but got to overtime.

How's that on the goalie? All four goals were scored from less than 10 feet out directly in front of the cage.

TB did it and it wasn't for them. Honestly, I don't
like the make up of the B's left side against
TB. Given the way Chara looked and Krug's
and Gryz size, its something I would do putting in
Lauzon to spell all three in certain situations.
Also if someone gets hurt they will still have
6 D.

You can spread that missing F slot amongst lots
of guys if its Bjork. Bergeron, Coyle, DeBrusk,
Wagner and even Marchand would make great
RW for Kuraly.

There's been a stat going around that Halak was really bad in back-to-backs this year, but he's actually only ever had back-to-back starts once in his last 5 seasons. He filled in for half a game vs. Vancouver when Rask was pulled and a near full game when Rask was injured vs. Columbus, but in terms of back-to-back starts, his entire history in the second game is:

14-6-0, .936

March 30, 2007 at OTT: L, 4/36
March 31, 2007 vs. BUF: W, 3/25

January 7, 2009 at NYR: W, 3/39
January 8, 2009 vs. TOR: W, 2/32

February 27, 2009 at PHI: W, 3/38
February 28, 2009 vs. SJS: W, 2/48

January 22, 2010 at NJD: W, 1/32
January 23, 2010 vs. NYR: W, 0/32

February 6, 2010 vs. PIT: W, 3/21
February 7, 2010 vs. BOS: L, 3/27

April 2, 2010 at PHI: W, 0/35
April 3, 2010 vs. BUF: W, 0/29

October 22, 2010 vs. CHI: W, 2/25

November 26, 2010 at DAL: L, 3/22
November 27, 2010 vs. DAL: L, 2/23

December 4, 2010 at EDM: L (SO), 2/26
December 5, 2010 at VAN: W, 2/23

February 11, 2011 vs. MIN: L (SO), 4/27
February 12, 2011 at MIN: L, 3/20

March 9, 2011 at CBJ: W, 3/22
March 10, 2011 vs. MTL: W, 1/28

March 29, 2011 vs. MIN: L (SO), 2/28
March 30, 2011 at DET: W, 3/44

December 17, 2011 at NSH: L (SO), 1/20
December 18, 2011 vs. CBJ: W, 4/32

February 3, 2012 vs. LAK: W, 0/22
February 4, 2012 at NSH: L, 2/36

February 28, 2013 vs. CHI: L, 3/23
March 1, 2013 vs. EDM: W, 2/17

March 23, 2013 at EDM: W, 0/19
March 24, 2013 at CGY: L, 3/17

October 26, 2013 at NSH, W, 1/23

March 10, 2014 vs. PIT: L, 3/20
March 11, 2014 at PIT: L, 2/34

December 19, 2014 at DET: W, 1/18
December 20, 2014 vs. TBL: W, 1/21

November 10, 2018 vs. TOR: W, 1/41
November 11, 2018 vs. VGK: W, 1/38

Problem with Halak is so many of these stats are ancient, but interestingly his most recent back-to-back start is the closest thing he has for shot volume to yesterday's game (TBL had 40 shots last night). When facing 30+ shots the night before, he's 6-0-0 with a .961 save %.

Always been intrigued by Clifton on the wing

I would prefer to roll forwards in the 4th line RW
slot. Bergeron, Coyle, Wagner, Kase, Pastrnak have all been RW in their careers. DeBrusk has played some also. Hell wouldn't hesitate putting Marchand there.

No problem with Clifton for one or two shifts if
things get scrambly with PP.
