I'm so confused why people think that was a controversial GI call. He literally made no attempt to avoid our goalie, it's a penalty.

I feel like the Penguins could have signed NHL vets like five deep on the depth chart and this still would have happened, somehow.

I agree. Unfortunately GI always seems to be a coin flip, not black and white. You could probably go back and look at all GI calls/non-calls this year and marvel at the inconsistency.
