We are making the Leafs D look like the Habs D of the late 70's. Brilliant strategy by Cassidy, going into a complete prevent defense because of the fear of a few stretch passes. Anyone think that Torts will apply the same strategy against them, not a freaking chance.

Why is everyone ****ting on the Bruins for not blowing the Leafs out? It is literally a tied game right now. Both teams played tentative (boring) hockey. If the rules were followed, and goaltender interference was called, we'd be going to overtime and possibly cheering a Bruins win. Why are you ****ting on the team for staying tied/within one goal of their opponent?

Because that's all well and fine, but the reality is that the Bruins had multiple chances to actually put the puck into the net and they didn't either due to ineptitude, nerves, bad game plan, or a combination of all three and the Bruins kept the Maple Leafs in the game long enough to capitalize on a mistake. They should have never left the door that wide open so late.

Just saw another replay of the second goal. Jake doing a little coasting on the backcheck and gets burned. I didn’t notice that at first.

That loss is on Cassidy, IMO.

He has allowed Toronto to dictate the style of play. Even if Cassidy feels he’s succeeding in taking away their stretch play, constantly dumping it out and dumping it in and not forechecking for fear of risking an odd man rush against has turned this into a game where we constantly give the puck to Toronto.

Look at how well we played after TO scored. All of a sudden, we stopped chipping and chasing and started making plays. Suddenly we had chances; off the rush, Ozone pressure, net front presence.

Almost no hitting at all. We constantly turned up chances to hit guys, and a forecheck with only 1 man deep 2 guys high means we’re not wearing them down or coming up with pucks when we forecheck either.

Another little detail TO is doing better than us: Their wingers on face-offs lock down our wingers. Wagner was alone in front and couldn’t get his stick loose. We can’t run our FO plays and we lose draws that the C wins back. On the flip side, we let their wingers skate free off every draw, that’s how they won and wasted the last 48 seconds of the game.

The powerplays weren't "gifted." They were penalties, and called as such.
The only gift was giving the Leafs a goal on an illegal play.
Also, if you want to split hairs, Pasta had his stick held and was cross checked in the back, with no call. Among others. I am not complaining about that, but if you are going to bitch about "gifts" and whatnot, then gotta include everything.
