Kuznetsov is my guy, but if they're close in points then Ovi could win it because backstory and nostalgia from earlier failures. Wouldn't be a travesty, he's been inspired these playoffs.

Edit: One other thing that might play in Ovi's favor when it comes to the Smythe is Crosby winning the last two. They might want to weigh that up with another iconic player from the same era.

Do players even care about this trophy? Lol
Definitely. The cup is the motivation, obviously.. but being recognized as the most important to your team on the biggest stage is a great honour. Having your name on that trophy with some of the others who’ve won is a great accomplishment.

Not even close! Crosby had 6 goals / 19 points, not 14 goals / 26 points and counting. Ovechkin has dominated physically, too.

25 points, two behind Kuz. It's the same scenario. Actually Kuz should get more credit than Kessel for getting less PP time than OV.

Ovi is not even the highest scoring player for WSH, so there is no reason why he would win it over MAF or Kuznetsov at this point.

Not remotely the same at all, and you know it. 6 goals is not even in the same stadium as 14+.

Add another delusional deflection to the OV argument:

"In no way shape or form is OV winning the Smythe despite less points than his linemate, let alone a teammate, anything like Crosby's Conn Smythe wins"

It's delusional to compare a player winning the smythe despite not reaching 20 points, having a teammate with more points, having a opponent with 11 more points to a player who already has 6 more points than Crosby did, and is clearly the best on his team.

I know you are still angry about the Kessel > Sid argument but dream on. If anything your argument should be that Crosby deserves a 3rd Smythe because he had 21pts with no round 3. So go on and make that case, that it is Sid who should get the Smythe and no Cap nor Golden Knight

So why Kessel over Crosby but not Kuzy over OV?

Kessel was scoring at will and the HBK line was the best line on the Pens. Kessel as a 3rd line winger had more points than Crosby as the 1C.

Kuznetsov is benefitting from playing with Ovi. The additional points come from the Center of the line almost always tallying more than the winger.

Despite Kuznetsov being slightly ahead in points, I could see Ovechkin's twice as many game-winning goals being a swing factor on writer voting.

Another prime example of the Center advantage. Kuznetsov touched the puck on Oshies goal because he's the C. Ovie doesn't touch it because he's the opposite winger.

HBK was benefiting from third line match ups lol. Other teams 1st and 2nd lines were more worried about Sid and Malkin. Its not their fault they didnt have 3 lines good enough to defend the pens.

This only gives another reason why the centre is the most important position on the ice besides the goalie.

you are so funny dud. Stop whining and enjoy caps dominance. A PP goal usually means an Ovie or Carlson pt, boo hoo
