I'm sure everyone wanted a 1st but two 2nds isn't bad. Duclair will probably be just a filler player. Had a hot start to the year and then fizzled out badly

The market was probably not there for a 1st.

Prior to the hype today about a strong return, a lot of people were guessing a 2nd and a B or C prospect. So two 2nds fits or exceeds what most people expected.

Duclair seems like mostly a throw in.

Yes, the Sens might have got an underwhelming return, but it is the Jackets that are taking an even bigger risk with all the picks they traded away for just to win one round in the playoffs.

Not of a fan of this at all.

Yeah we got two 2nds, but one is a year from now and the other is two years from now. Given the time value of picks, that's probably akin to a 2nd+3rd in 2019. Mediocre return for a kid on pace for 30G and 60P.

This also makes the Blue Jackets a better hockey team now, which could result in them winning more hockey games and lowering their 1st round pick even further.

With all the cap room Ottawa now has for Next season expect long contracts to Karlsson, Duchene, and Stone in the Off season.

Lebrun just tweeted that the Jackets consider this a rental, a contract extension is not involved.

Jarmo is panicking or their is a mandate to do whatever is possible to try to win a round.

That's what he tweeted.

All that's saying is that CBJ didn't talk to Dzingel prior to a trade, and an extension wasn't a function of the deal.

What I am saying is I think any team in on Dzingel understood where his ask would be, and probably thinks the player will be motivated to sign an extension due to the risk involved with playing out the season when you're not an established star.

It wouldn't shock me if an extension was done well before the end of the season.

maybe we can showcase him in a trade to Montreal for Domi's left skate.....but he is a Melnyck kind of contract....1 year at 650k

I think the consensus was a 2019 2nd and a decent prospect akin to an Abramov.

A 2020 2nd and a 2021 2nd isn't equal to that in value.

Yeah, Duclair seems like a reclamation project at this point. Don't see why we'd take on one of those as we apparently "rebuild".

The two 2nds........just more mediocre picks for primo UFAs.

Good job on another very MEH trade PD.

Why is a pick two years from now worth less? If anything, we want to stagger them a little bit. We can't have a million picks in one year. That would create a prospect logjam.

Not bad actually.

Could have been a lot worse.

Does anyone know how many picks we have in the next 3 years? This is getting silly when you add in Karlsson return, Duchene return, Dzingle return and probably Stone tomorrow.
