All unsigned (not under contract overseas) first round picks usually sign before their first camp. It's just to avoid drama later and to give them a signing bonus to take care of some wants/needs.

Slide can't be under-valued: by signing Soderstrom before the year he turned 20 (2021), the Coyotes were able to slide his contract: Victor Söderström Contract, Cap Hit, Salary and Stats - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps
As a Florida Panthers fan, we were unable to slide Knight (same age as Soderstrom) and Lundell (draft year tear) at ALL because they were signed in year that they turned 20.

Morgan says Guenther has been staying with the Doans - probably the best environment to get the kid hyped about Arizona hockey.

I'd like to see a Coyotes draft pick become a star player someday. Hopefully Guenther is the guy.

What did he buy? Horse people don't normally give up the horse life without extenuating circumstances.

He had two homes. The oldest two kids have grown up and he's been doing more and more with the league that kept him out of Phoenix after he retired. Running the horse ranch was becoming too much for his wife to do alone.
