Only need to worry about one team having a bad year now instead of two.
Montreal was almost certainly going to finish with a pick somewhere around 17-20 (+/- 2). Carolina will undoubtedly finish with a pick in the 20s. Montreal is now much more likely to get a top 10 pick. Which leaves us with that mid-to-late CAR pick.

Which is why I complained there not being an extra condition if that was the case.

Never dreamed Carey Price would check into rehab.
Of course not but the scenario is the same...if Montreal finishes with the 5th pick and Carolina with the 32nd, the Coyotes only get the 32nd. Should have been a condition where 1 pick is bottom 10 and the other top 5 the Coyotes receive the later 1st AND another pick.

Imo should've just been no conditions or only lottery protection. I get top 3 protection, but this is the exact scenario that screws us with the conditions of the trade, and also perfectly illustrates why agreeing to it was dumb. We kind of needed to move other guys we traded, we didn't need to move Dvo.

There was talk all summer that Price would miss significant time to start the season. It's why they exposed him in draft to keep Allan.

Time to hope for the Canes to collapse. Their goalies are Freddy Andersen and Antti Raanta. Far from bullet proof.

They also have DeAngelo. Maybe he can throw their dressing room off kilter.

It takes two teams to agree on a trade. Montreal knows this is suppose to be a deep draft and put that condition in the trade, or there would be no trade. BA was all horny for a 1st. rounder and agreed. Time will tell who fleeced who.

This is the ultimate Coyotes scenario.

Colorado vs Carolina cup. Carolina wins. Montreal wins the lotto after just missing the playoffs. Yotes end third from worse some how, get bumped by Montreal and another team. Pick 5th, 31st and 32nd.
Not quite that bad. But could be quite close to that bad. Haha.

Can’t believe the defending Eastern Conference Champions got their lottery protection on this pick and then won the lottery. Even funnier that the GM who pulled it off is unemployed. LOL.
