If he goes back to what worked for him (and getting back in shape so he can do those things), I think he could bounce back to being a solid middle 6 winger. Not sure what happened with Eakins, but it seemed like he got benched after scoring a goal/having a solid game. Which is weird because he had best year under Eakins too. Not sure if there was a falling out or it was just the being in shape thing. Combined with some bad luck in there too, he started looking better then had surgery, came back and started getting better and caught Covid (or maybe it was the other way around). Either way, he hasn't taken hockey as seriously over the summer as he should have the last couple of years. If he's in shape and used properly, he may be a pleasant surprise for whoever signs him. If not, this might be his last or second to last chance in the NHL.
