The Ducks felt he wasn't worth the QO, if he signs elsewhere it will be below the Ducks QO, he could still sign with the Ducks.

If he goes back to what worked for him (and getting back in shape so he can do those things), I think he could bounce back to being a solid middle 6 winger. Not sure what happened with Eakins, but it seemed like he got benched after scoring a goal/having a solid game. Which is weird because he had best year under Eakins too. Not sure if there was a falling out or it was just the being in shape thing. Combined with some bad luck in there too, he started looking better then had surgery, came back and started getting better and caught Covid (or maybe it was the other way around). Either way, he hasn't taken hockey as seriously over the summer as he should have the last couple of years. If he's in shape and used properly, he may be a pleasant surprise for whoever signs him. If not, this might be his last or second to last chance in the NHL.

1 year at league minimum is probably his only option.

I remember this guy being touted as a top 5 pick before the 2017 season lol.
Not sure about prior to his draft year, but most pre draft rankings had him late 1st or second round. And he wasn’t drafted until the later second round. Now if you want to “lol” at players who haven’t yet lived up to their hype or draft position, look no further than the guy in your avatar. At least Comtois outperformed his draft slot to an extent.

For sure. I’m not even a Rangers fan.

He was regarding as a top 5 pick heading into the 2017 draft. His rank fell as the season went on.

Do teams seriously care?

Nick Cousins has a contract
Logan Mailloux has one
Casey DeSmith

Etc etc

The league has always been an epic joke.

Obviously they care if they didn't he'd be signed, but It's not because teams have morals, they don't and never will.

He's just not good enough for teams to look past the risk

Mailloux hasn't been cleared to play in the NHL, but he's likely to be.

No idea what the other 2 did.

Bitchass Miller didn't have his contract go through because he's a piece of shit and he and his representatives lied about him doing even the most minimal of PR work and the useless f***tard Bruins didn't even look into it just took his word at face value and signed him.

The NHL is a joke, but they try at times..
