Friedman: Ducks are now preparing to trade Lindholm after failed talks

Ahhh, thanks for the insight. The Bruins were looking to add both Lindholm and Rakell?
Things can change from hour to hour. But the focus seems to have changed and yes, Boston was looking to package both players together as long as both wanted to resign.

Will be interesting if the Blues step up today to work on putting something together and if another team steps in with an offer from a purely rental perspective.

I've only watched 5 or 6 games involving Ducks this season, but he's looked awful in each one. Hopefully that's just small bad sample size and any team that overpays will be thrilled with him.

Friedman on the Jeff Marek show yesterday afternoon. Was saying that the Flames are interested in Lindholm, and have had a few talks with Anaheim as of late. Not sure what kinda offers Calgary would actually do though

What’s the allure with lysell? What makes him a top prospect other then him being apart of. A system with little high end prospects? Being sincere

I would imagine Anaheim loving their Swedes being an allure. It seems like a lot of Swedes in Anaheim do very well here. Them and the Finns

Skill set and speed. Deadly fast speed already at high NHL level in his first year in North America. Hasn’t disappointed and now likely to take the next step.

I agree that there are better prospects out there but it seems like the Bruins are one of the few teams willing to offer their top prospect and their first and also have cap space to make moves. So that would by HF standards have Lysells name out there more.

Pre-draft his ranking was all over the place. Dobber, Elite Prospects, and McKeen's all had him top 10 overall, with Dobber having him all the way up to 3rd overall. Conversely, central Scouting only had him 9th amongst Euros and Button had him all the way down to 27th overall. Pronman had him at 22. Sportsnet, McKenzie, Wheeler (The Athletic) had him 11th, 12th and 13th respectively. 3rd to 27th OA is just a huge spread in these rankings. Bruins felt fortunate he dropped down to them.

Amongst Bruins fans you are obviously getting the "few good prospects" bump in his standing. But, its not just Bruins fans that rate him highly. Everyone agrees he is a top top top notch skater. There were some concerns over coachability as he forced his way to another organization in Sweden before his draft season and there are concerns he is TOO pass focused. If he hits, you are hoping for a William Nylander, but folks view of his chance of hitting are obviously all over the place, so it really depends on if the Ducks (or AZ for that matter) are closer to the 3rd OA group or the 27th OA group.

edit:

If you are looking for pros of his work since he came to North America:

- He has shown a willingness to battle and get in the dirty areas which speaks well to his ability to not just be a perimeter player in the pros.

If you are looking for cons:

- He isn't producing like you would hope a potential 1st line talent would. His proponents point to the fact that he is a playmaker on a bad team and you need people to be able to finish, but that excuse only goes so far.

His coach said he is as good a skater as Bure and his points are skewed as he plays on a bad team where the top pair are always on him.

The mod vetted guys on Bruins board saying that Rakell not being willing to negotiate an extension are holding things up. Implied that DeBrusk and Lysell were part of deal.
Dom, or someone else?

I thought that segment sounded more like Friedman just speculating than anything serious. IIRC he went on for a while about the coaching/organizational connections between former ducks and the current flames (ex-ducks GM Bob Murray now working in Calgary's front office, Sutter seeing him play a bunch when we was in LA, etc). Didn't sound to me like we was reporting on anything substantial, more ruminating to fill air time. Who knows tho...one way or another we will all find out soon!

On the second part I agree, but when you type in Hampus Lindholm there’s like 500 people trying to get attention on Twitter for what he said yesterday. I thought he was speculating as well. But people are saying where there’s smoke there’s fire blah blah on what Friedman was talking about. Some even being reputable Twitter users
