So, until the playoffs happen, our second 1st could be anywhere from 16-32, right?
That's a pretty crazy range.

technically it could still be 1st overall right now since Washington could still potentially miss the Playoffs

....not that that will actually happen

i notice , Red wings , if they like someone in the second round , they will draft him in the first .

That was under Holland, not Yzerman. (McCollum, Cholowski as 2 examples. Svechnikov too, kind of. Lindstrom was picked right before Jason Robertson despite being ranked to be very late in the draft)

EDIT: Brendan Smith, as well. CSB had him ranked 68, but he was picked 27th.

Holland actually took both falling Zadina and Veleno. Yzerman got Viro , Sebrango, Hanas, Tuomisto much earlier. Draper kid , don't even want to talk about

Those were 2nd and 3rd round picks, not first round picks. I thought you meant guys ranked in the 2nd round that went in the 1st.

Gave it a spin with McKenzie's new rankings. My U of M bias is likely clear lol.

6. Luke Hughes (NTDP/UofM)
28. Mackie Samoskevich (Chicago Steel/UofM)
36. Zachary L'Heureux (Halifax Mooseheads)
47. Dylan Duke (NTDP/UofM)
68. Cameron Whynot (Halifax Mooseheads)

Not going to try my hand past that, although Dach and Ufko were names that intrigued me at 90.

BOO, got 6th overall. So traded down to 8th with Columbus for another early 2nd.

Chose Edvinsson with 8th.

The rest was kind of guessing as I don't know much about the lower 1st and beyond. Took Pinelli with the WSH 1st.

Used Draft Prospects list, lowered the randomness and really lowered the team needs factor. Here's what I got... and I traded 28 and 52 for 24

Since we aren't getting Top 2, (you know we won't) who is the realistic guy we hope for. Beniers, Johnson, Guenther, Eklund, Edvinsson, Clark/Hughes if one goes Top 2?

Not one of you has taken Wallstedt yet you cowards.

It's tempting just to try to shake up the drafts a bit. The few times I've toyed with it I seem to get roughly the same options if I pick sixth or later. Once I had Hughes fall to me. Also, Cossa never seems to fall to our second pick.

(07) Simon Edvinsson..D

(38) Sebastian Cossa.....G

Basically, they get sh*t picks again, no surprise, but they luck up and have some great choices left still. Anybody done that one yet?

-I think they'd use that opportunity to get the pieces they need most, although unfortunately not in the order of priority they were hoping for.

For you. Cheers, mate.

*Edit to add: so apparently, you can make your pick and then trade down. Of course, it defeats the whole purpose of the exercise, but it's kind of fun in a weird way to pick Jake Martin first overall and trade him for the second pick and change, rinse and repeat ad nauseum. I ended up with this little haul:
