I could choose between Johnson and Beniers at 5

I simply haven't done any research into this draft, so I stopped.

Not gonna post mine because I got carried away and picked centers and LD. Then I looked ta yours and realized it came out similar, lol.

Probably should pick Cossa if he's available at 28, but Lambos is hard to pass on as well especially if the first pick is Johnson.

I was thinking the same thing. But Lambos as LD when I drafted Johnson.
Well, you just said what I said, so you know.

Yeah, top pick is BPA but the latter first round pick is tricky especially since they don't always pan out. The Mantha trade is always going to be judged on that pick too, even if we think it was a good trade based on value.

Chayka was still available for the Washington pick so that's who I went with. Also picked 6th and took Johnson.

So for my first sim this season I decided to turn the randomness all the way up and used the draft prospect list. If the draft turned out this way, I'd be over the moon, so of course it won't.

5. Luke Hughes
28. Francesco Pinelli
36. Sebastian Cossa
47. Prokhor Poltapov
52. Stanislav Svozil
68. Colton Dach
90. Joshua Roy
100. Kyle Masters
126. Viljami Marjala
131. Manix Landry (amazing name btw)
132. Jimi Soumi
164. Aleski Heimosalmi

I did the same and ended up with this which is kinda hilarious

(6) Luke Hughes, LD
(28) William Eklund, LW

(47) Aidan Hreschuk, LD
(52) Prokhor Poltapov, RW

Turned randomness up to 7 and team needs down to 3.

5. Matt Beniers (C)
28. Xavier Bourgault (C/W)
36. Sebastian Cossa (G)
47. William Stromgren (LW)
52. Colton Dach (LW)
68. Anton Olsson (LD)
90. Manix Landry (C/W)
100. Alexander Kisakov (LW)
126. Josh Doan (C/W)
131. Yegor Savikov (LD)
132. Riley Kidney (C)

Olausson, Lambos and Svechkov were gone which were the three guys I wanted at 28 but the more I read about Bourgault the more I like him.
Aidan Hreschuk is who I wanted at 47 but he was taken right after Cossa. This is why I ended up with only 2 defensemen in the draft instead of the 4 I wanted to walk away with.

Also that Kisakov kid has some supremely talented hands. He's super small but could be a homerun.

Just did a draft where The Coyotes won the lottery haha. For the purposes of the real draft I sure hope we finish in the 5 position

I ended up taking Edvinsson over Clark and Eklund as my pick at #5

5. Simon Edvinsson, LHD
28. Francesco Pinelli- C
36. Zach Dean- C
47. Scott Morrow- RHD
52. Oliver Kapanen- C/W
68. Cameron Whynot- LHD
90. Lorenzo Canonica- C/W
100. Ethan Del Mastro, LHD
126. Victor Stjernberg- C/W
131. Oliver Moberg, RW
132. Maxim Motorygin, G
164. Victor Sjoholm, RHD

Went with the Swede early, mixed in some others, then went Swede's late. I think my favorite picks are Morrow at #47, Canonica at #90, and one of the Russian goalies at #132.

So, until the playoffs happen, our second 1st could be anywhere from 16-32, right?
That's a pretty crazy range.
