If we don't get 1 or 2 OA it will be disappointing, because 3 might as well be 4. But then again, if we do end up 3rd and whoever is picking 2nd takes Stutzle, we'll end up with Byfield! Conflicting emotions.

In 2017 the avs had the best odds of drafting 1st overall but fell to 4th. They went on to draft Cale Makar. Hopefully we can get similar results no matter where we draft.

Instead of the lottery system, can we do like a Deal or No Deal where all the GMs pick briefcases they believe contains the #1 overall pick?

I did it a couple of weeks ago, and #4 was about 14 times, #3 was most of the others and a couple #1 and #2.

Also, NJ got 1st a lot of times, which really annoyed me, seeing as they have has 2 of the last 3.

I ran the sim 20 times and we picked 4th 14 times, first 2 times, 3rd 4 times. No 2nd overall picks.
Sadly enough, Ottawa got the 1OA and 2OA picks 5 times in the sim, and had 1OA and 3OA 3 times, picking no lower than 6. Winnipeg strangely jumped up to the 1OA 3 times with their 3% chance. New Jersey twice, LA twice, Anaheim 3 times.
If Ottawa gets 1 and 2 overall I'll start to believe that Melnyk has some dirt on Bettman in a manila envelope somewhere.

I've done that several times as well, Getting the #1 pick then stop. Here's hoping that it happens for real.
