At the start of the pandemic the Bruins 2011 team had a Zoom call that they broadcasted to the fans. The guys were drunk. One thing that stuck out to me is when they started making fun of Hamilton for being the kind of guy to take dumb shots to boost his Corsi stats.

So is he just second in goals by defenseman over the past half decade by accident? All those dumb Corsis just happened to go in the net?

Well he plays on a team that likes to funnel from low to high a lot. Did in Alberta, too. Seems to do well for Hamilton’s totals but Carolina under performs their corsi year after year...and not just from goaltending effects...

Does that make him a winning player?

Have you seen the shots that have gone in? These aren’t volume shots that trickled in because eventually that many shots will succeed. He’s picking corners with velocity.

What’s with the winning player comment? Was that the question or was the question who’s better? Yes Doughty won the cup with very good LA teams, the Canes haven’t won a cup with him yet but he’s been the leading dman on a team that’s made the playoffs twice after missing for a decade. Doughty leads a team that’s lottery quality. He’s not turning the tide there? That’s a weak shot by you.

He scored a playoff GWG like three days ago, so yes being one of the top goal-scoring defensemen of his generation does make him a winning player.

Not an easy one.

A young up and coming guy better at offense than defense vs an older vet whobis better at defense.

Doughty was the best dman of, not quite a generation but maybe a 5 year period, but he hasnt been that in maybe 2 or 3 years. Hes declined, and hamilton has improved.

So overall id say its close right now. Going forward its hamilton easy. But if i wanted to win the cup thisbyear i probably go with doughty.

Gotta love a good "not actually mad" agenda thread.

usual suspects roll call!

Will never understand the weird, recurring seething hatred a handful of TBL fans have for Drew. Maybe they're just feeling some guilt over the 2018 Norris.

Ah. It all makes so much more sense now.

If you vote Doughty you don’t deserve to have an opinion.
Why? Doughty led his team to two cups. What has Hamilton done?
Doughty is one of the best D men of the last 20 years. Hamilton is good, but he’s not even close to having a career like Doughty’s. I’m actually surprised anyone would suggest Hamilton is better.
It’s really not even close. Maybe in five more years Hamilton builds a better resume, but I don’t believe he will.

I've defended Doughty a good bit on here, but I never realized it was due to a grudge. I thought it was short term-ism.

I watched Doughty play a pretty lazy first period this year. Then he and Ovie started checking each other and it was on. Old Doughty was fully engaged, and he looked like his old self. Just like that.

I realize that's anecdotal but I've seen a few flashes from him - enough to think it's still there.

Ugh so Duncan Keith is better than Seth Jones right now because he has 3 cups on his resume?

Jonathan Toews is better than Elias Pettersson right now?

The question is not asking who’s had the better career it’s who’s better right now.

It's either them or Sens fans. Always the same posters too. Now that's consistency.

The poll only asks “who is better?”
Who is better, Gretzky or Mario?
