Dorion to the Senators is like Wadell to the Thrashers.

Just a Waylon Smithers/Squealer type character. Why would anyone take the team seriously?

If I were one of their remaining star players on contract, I'd try as many high risk moves as possible. The team is going to lose anyway, at least make it entertaining. Endless spin-o-ramas, no defensive play, passes through my own slot.

So, this would be a good time to make an unpaid plug for the wonderful Twitter feed, @1968NHLtweets. Basically, this guy reads old newspapers from exactly 50 years ago and tweets the NHL news as if it were happening today. You get fantastic stuff like this:

And then you get stuff like this:

1968 Hockey Tweets on Twitter

And then you log on to HFBoards and see a thread about the Sens and it's like

“Last year was unacceptable so we’re going to have scorched earth rebuild. Now don’t do what you did last year!”

No balls and no brains. The best puppet Melnyk could buy.

Wow wtf why would he say that? So basically you’re punishing a player for the prior year?

What a train wreck. Please someone help save the great fans of Ottawa. They really don’t deserve this shit show. Just horrible.

Dorion really should have taken the opportunity to tear the 'C' off of Karlsson's jersey before trading him to San Jose. Push all the dysfunctional management buttons and use all tools at your disposal to alienate players, fans, and show the world you mean business.

I hate Bergevin for his incompetency but this is somewhat next level x10000. I feel bad for Sens fans, they don't deserve this.

Next thing we know is players will have to pay for their equipment.

At some point I think the NHL needs to step in, and manage the team and force melnyk to find a seller even if it means moving the team. The Senators are actively hurting the league, and making the NHL look like a mickey mouse league. It is truly embarrassing.

Duchene totally agreed with the message....

The Melnyk meltdown as the reality of a last place finish with no top pick and Duchene leaving in free agency should continue to be amazing.

This is what the Sens management is saying to the players and what the players are saying back to them.

To be honest I don't really understand what the posters are laughing at. Yea, maybe Dorion should had kept his mouth shout.

Smith is coming of a basically career worse year (19 points) and was a team worse -32 in +/-. He was waived and he cleared, which speaks volume about his value...

I would understand players and fans getting mad at Dorion if he had some value and they lost him for nothing, but, like many other teams, Ottawa waived a fringe (maybe depth player if he has a comeback year) and fans decided to make a big deal out of nothing....

Simple question for the fans: How many people blaming Dorion would take Smith for free for your team?
