We were spoiled when it came to good trades for a while there. Payback is a ****** I guess...
Horton, Campbell for Wideman and Bitz
Tomas Kaberle trade.
Dennis Seidenberg trade
Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton for Phil Kessel
Rich Peverley for Stuart and Wheeler (It took Wheeler a while to reach the level he is at now while Peverley was a key peice in our cup run and subsequent finals run a couple years later)
Johnny Boychuk for Matt Hendricks (Steal of the Century here, I wish Sweeney would get his act together and use all this scouting expertise he has to find some decent NHLers that are buried on another team's roster like Chiarelli did on this one).
You don't think goaltending is their biggest issue? Hutchinson Hellebuyck Pavelec??? Hellebuyck is promising but still very young...but that is certainly their biggest issue...
I'm willing to put it out there that I think we are looking a gift horse in the mouth saying we wouldn't include Carlo in a deal for Trouba. Obviously the other pieces that would need to be added are particularly relevant, but this narrative that Carlo can't be moved in the deal is gaining steam here and I think it's wrong. I think we are overrating 8 games. Don't get me wrong I think he's been terrific, but I can't help but think we will look back in a year or two, or even sooner, and chuckle about this.
I offer Carlo and Spooner and see if that gets it done.
I also believe:
Krug - Trouba
Chara - Carlo
Is a playoff-worthy top four provided Rask is healthy.
This is an example of what I mean - 8 games under his belt and suddenly he's top 4 playoff ready - borderline ridiculous to assume as much.
What is with this huge influx of people that insist on letting the rest of the board know "don't get too excited" about Carlo. He's playing great...people see great things and great potential. If you have that top 4 going into the PO's, yeah I feel pretty good about it.
I'm not saying I think Carlo is a future HOF'er or All-star or whatever...no one can possibly know or assume these things. But, that top 4 is certainly not terrible looking. Pretty sure that's all people are getting at.
You seem to be inferring things about Carlo that no one said. Given how he's played...uhh yeah, he's playing top 4 in the playoffs. And given what we've seen, uhh yeah I feel okay about it.

No it isn't. When did people know that Krug was ready for top four minutes?
Wait, he's already playing top two minutes on a .500 team. Now reduce that time down, give him the second line competition and continue to mentor him along.
Trouba takes the pressure off Chara, Krug and Carlo instantly, further reduces Miller and Liles' ice time and greatly improves the transition game for the Bruins.
I'm going on his play over the last year and saying that he makes a great #4 in today's NHL. If they stand pat, he will burn out before Chara does and both will collapse by March.
Krug got 44 pts yes But I think people really over value him.He is sooo soft not funny. Not top 4 to me.PPspecialist yes.

You can rest assured it was longer than an 8 game cup of coffee. It's unrealistic, and it's unfair to the kid.
Ask yourself the real reason why you feel obligated to make him the back-end savior?
It's the most difficult position in the world to develop in - and sure, there are exceptions - and no, Torey Krug is not one, but sure, there are. Brandon Carlo is not going to be an exception.
