Mod note:
Since everyone seems sort of confused again (despite some of the same posters being here.....)

Here's what the deal was with yesterday's thread and it absolutely applies in this case as well:

1. You can talk about Don's Comments/his firing.
2. You can talk about the reaction to the comments.
3. You can think he's racist, a patriot, whatever. If you FLAME the posters who have the opposite opinion as you, I'm just going to throw you out of the thread.
4. If you can't handle discussing the comments without launching into broader political issues that aren't DIRECTLY related to this instance, you will also be thrown out.

Honestly this is the best outcome.

Cherry gets to go out feeling like a hero for defending veterans, he's going to spin this into a story where he's the good guy easily.

Better this than watching him continue to slip deeper into dementia and have his employers feel to uncomfortable too fire an old man for being sick.

My guess for what happened is that Sportsnet asked him to apologize, he refused and they told him to kick rocks.

Say stupid shit on national television, get stupid shit consequences.

I would have had no problem with what he said if he didn’t target a f***ing demographic.

Good riddance.

Lol at all the people crying about cancel culture...by saying they’ll be boycotting HNIC. Lol.

It's too bad it happened this way. It leaves a bad image. Wish Cherry the best going forward. Never enjoy hearing someone lose their job. More of a way of life for him.

We'll remember you Don! Goodbye for now.
