As a Pens fan I'd be happy to throw some money at Kahun or Rodrgues again. Our top 6 is set but the bottom 6 is a box of (nice) spare parts without a set alignment yet. We could fit either in.

He's a player that good teams churn and burn through, basically the same boat as Connor Sheary. The difference this year is that the pandemic changed "good teams" to "teams who are not rich".

Based on what they did with the Sabres, Kahun is a far better player than Sheary. All Sheary ever did was fall down a lot and look completely lost. Unless we were playing the Pens, then he was good for a goal or 2.

It's like Buffalo seen all these RFAs not getting QOs and wanted in on the party, despite having an obscene amount of cap space

Kahun today may be better than Sheary today (which the analytics don't agree with, but whatever), but Kahun today and Sheary in 2018 are basically the same.

Good teams churn and burn through those players. They get them on ELCs and cheap contracts and then they trade them when they become too expensive. The pandemic is just causing more teams to be not willing to take on those kind of players for that price.
