Because I think Freddy has been their best player on most nights this season. Without him this team is borderline wildcard level. He is carrying the team and especially the defense on his back. That to me is what a captain should do.

He's been great, no doubt, but a goalie as Captain????. Best player is not necessarily the best leader. MO just showed real leadership.

Agreed that's why there is no captain today .... when someone takes control of the ice and carries team to wins in the playoffs then a captain will be earned

There has been much discussion re: candidates for Captain. Riellys name has been mentioned along with Tavares, Hyman, and Matthews. Does this incident change your opinion if he should be captain and why? Or has it lessened his chances?

He wasn't gonna be a captain, so no. Plus he didn't do anything wrong, so double no

I think the incident helps his case for being captain. He dealt with that issue professionally. It's nice to see guys get tested and succeed. He could have gone on some stupid political correctness rant on Twitter or otherwise cried on Twitter as soon as he was accused. But he let the process vindicate him and never made it seem like he was some victim. Reilly and Dubas were total pros about it.

Captain Morgan.

In 2019, you're guilty until proven innocent, and still kind of guilty by association anyway.

Just because some SJW morons jumped the gun on Rielly doesn't change a thing with the Leafs

Not a chance, and he handled it well. He looked 100% distraught, and dumbfounded on how it all blew up.

No. Innocent until proven guilty. It actually should be opposite. The fact he stepped up and denied it shows leadership.

If it does, it is a terrible reflection on management. Because guys in the room don't give a shit (presuming they believe him).

There was no incident.

It was just a witch hunt proven by evidence on the individuals involved.

Should everyone not proven guilty be punished?
