Patrick Sharp would be better than Giroux for Team Canada, a more complete player, better skater, and a consistent 30 goal scorer

This. I can't think of one single area of the game where anyone would choose Giroux over Sharp.

Giroux should not be a consideration. And no way, if he is, would he be on anyones top three lines.

I'm shocked nobody is talking Taylor Hall. Wicked fast, and can carry the puck and control it at high speeds. Scores, and gives it all, 100 percent of the time. They do not need the Under performing Giroux at center, as there are plenty of centers....All better than him at the game. Giroux on a wing? Don't buy that either. Not when there is bigger, faster, Hall available.

Giroux should NOT be on team Canada.

I wish my team's "underperformers" put 30 points in the last 25 games.

Also, Giroux played plenty of wing at the NHL level before switching to center.

But the fact that you don't even think arguably one of the top 5 players in the game should even be in consideration speaks volumes...

How about playmaking?

How about the ability to take over a game and dominate?

How about ability to put up more points?

How about the ability to raise his linemates performance?

Claude Giroux will 100% be on this team.

****ing Taylor Hall over him? How can someone even say that with a straight face. It's that ****ing barbaric.

This thread (especially now) is laughable

Hilarious, Giroux should be far ahead of Hall in terms of making the team, even with Giroux garbage start this season.

I could be mistaken but I believe Claude Giroux is the highest scoring Canadian player, over the last three years. Obviously, that's thanks to injuries to Sid and Stamkos but he should AT LEAST be drawing consideration.

If Stamkos is healthy, a line of Crosby/Stamkos/Giroux would be unfair to the rest of the teams in the tournament.

I am convinced he should be there.

The thought of him and Crosby embracing after s big goal.... how sweet would that be?

I don't ever see them on a line unless it was coincidence on the fly, even though I think a line with them would be good. Way too much salt between them, plus they probably put someone else on first line.

Whne Giroux was slumping early in the season I thought he would be on the bubble (As I do believe you should somewhat pick around who is playing better); But over the last 25 games Giroux will easily be on the team. He has all-world skill.

To the guy who was talking about Taylor Hall and yammering about how terrible Giroux is.....I question whether you actually have watched Giroux play.

one of the most over blown feuds in the league. My uncle works for the nhl, and he said they talk like everyone else does all the time like at the allstar game and such. there not buddies, but not enemies either. just like Crosby and ovi aren't enemies either, although the media likes to portray they are

Well Crosby Ovi never had nearly as much on ice stuff as Crosby Giroux.

I believe it. Feuds contrived by the media tend be just that.

As a Hawks fan, I can honestly say that if you strip away the expectations, roles on their respective teams, and off-ice BS from these two players- Giroux has more of a gamebreaker ability, although Sharp could be just as deadly if not more so with an elite playmaker type.

I think both of them should be on Team Canada, but I have a lingering feeling that Sharp will be excluded.

I think keeping as much chemistry together as possible will certainly help the team through the tournament. Obviously every one of these players is an undeniable talent, and would succeed with any line combinations, but having the familiarity, with the right supplimental piece will help.
Kunitz and Crosby will be paired together to start, I think Giroux is the perfect addition, he brings speed, quick hands, and plays a little more physical.
Stamkos is the purest goal scorer on the roster, and the chemistry with St. Louis is perfect, so add in the purest set up man and a big body in front of the net in Thornton, and I think that is the deadliest line the Canadians will have.
Toews and Sharp with the addition of Duchene can be a big point producer.
a 4th line, is some of the bigger bodies, that can bring energy.
Bergeron is the faceoff specialist, and Lucic can be put in against bigger teams (like the US) and I think Duchene would be the one replaced.

Giroux was 2nd in points in December for all Canadians...he has clearly turned his season around. And over the last 4 years, he is 4th in the NHL in total points...so he has proven it year after year.

He will definitely be there.
